These guys, like every sports radio show in the city, are probably wondering how this team will ensure the fans continue to have enough passion to keep them in a job.

I think there are 4 or 5 current players who feel the same way.

A lot better than the famous "Mickey Mouse" comment which this org would fully deserve.

It's been a long time coming.
I reallly think that Tambi is the wrong GM for the Oilers. He needs to be fired. There's a reason he was passed over so many times. I ask this question. If Lowe was the GM, would he have signed Khabibulin for 4 years or would he have signed Roloson for 2 years?

I agree. It's past the point of just shaking up the team so he may as well wait till near the deadline. Teams do not want to trade for our over priced dead weight until they have to.

The team could go 0-82 and they would still say the team is good and things are getting better.

I like Mathesons comment as stated on HNIC broadcast, "This is the worst Oiler team in the history of the team! "

What have they said that gives you this indication? Particularly in the last month, Dan Tencer has been very critical of the team. Rightfully so.

Rob Brown is an eternal optimist, but I can't imagine he thinks this team is good.

no one can ignore the fact that this team has been injured most of the season.

top player - hemsky
top pk - pisani
#1 goalie - kabby

#1 and #2 and #3 D-man - souray / lubo /grebs

some top 6 guys - comrie / nilsson

come grit - stone / jfj

i dont think its the wost team in oiler history but i do think that there were holes that were not filled once they were exposed early they were ignored and now we are ****ed.

God I hope we have a busy deadline becoming an AHL team. When Matheson says your the worst team he's covered in 30 years, then you should feel utterly embarrassed.

and oh yeah, Trade Hemsky he is holding the Oilers back!!!!

current contract situation makes it clear that they have a problem--it is tough to move contracts when a team is bad

ufa after this year

Pisani 2mill
Comrie 1.25
Stone .600
strudwick .500

RFA

Gagner
Cogliano
Brule
JFJ
Potulny
Grebs
JDD
DD

UFA's after 10/11
Moreau 2.00
Satois 2.7
POS 2.9

RFA
Nilsson 2
Smid 1.4

UFA after 11/12
Penner 4.25
Hemsky 4
Souray 5.4

UFA after 12/13
Lubor 5.6
Habby

13/14
Gilbert 4.00

14/15

Horcoff 5.5

the bigger picture and the bigger problem that will handcuff the oilers is the fact that the big money contr dont start coming off for three more seasons and until those come off it will hinder the oilers from keeping the younger players and signing UFAs to change the look fo the team

as I said--Hemsky injury is the killer

Habby--JDD's numbers have been as good as habby---goalies dont score goals

Pisani as the best penalty killer maybe 3 years ago--not now

So I dispute your findings

The nice thing is we'll be able to get some cheap re-signs this offseason.

The bad news is, if you think it was tough to get UFAs before, wait til this offseason, but then again, that could be a good thing, it means that can't spend money foolishly.

I bet there will be players asking to be traded and it's going to be a nightmare trying to sign players for the Oilers.

but the thing is the contracts coming off the books are not big contracts and we have young UFA looking at new contracts

it is three season till the big money comes off the books and till then--we can not talk about ufas
