This is the biggest something-out-of-nothing issue I have read about in a while. These kids grew up driving to practice at 3 am. Do you really think they mind this? Have any of you actually been to your local rink? These are luxery conditions compared to most of them.

Agreed. But the conditions should be equal to all, and if they are it's no problem.

This was for a Swedish Practice...do we even know if Canada practiced yesterday?? Besides, what hockey player has never changed in a makeshift bathroom or stall. Its part of the game! Just make sure that your laces aren't soaking up the urine from the stall floor.

The Swedes are prepared for this. It is like this every time they play in Canada. It is just mind games from the 'gracious' hosts.

If Team Sweden are bothered by this I would be very surprised because then the team management have failed to prepare them for it.

Use it as motivation and it's all good.

Again, the conditions should be equal to all, and if they are - it's no problem.

Then why say anything? When you make a point of it in advance, its like setting up an excuse.

All they had to say was "Everything's fine" When they were asked about it.

That was probably for a practice and remember the number of teams playing, but I'm sure the story will present itself as the Swedes get the toilet while Canada's players are in the lap of luxury.

What, like they saying "It doesn't bother us, we would change in the stands if we had to"?

Sorry, I guess what I meant is that the media and fans are setting it up as an excuse.

Then why say anything at all to begin with if it isen't an issue? The Swedish team might not be making an excuse in advance, but the newspaper certainly is.

The newspaper was making a story on it and they said it was no problem and they'd change in the stands if they had to. It's not like THEY wrote the article, is it?

It was a practice. IIRC for practices (at WJC) teams usually dress at the hotel and only use the dressing to put on their skates. I know this is how team Canada usually does it.

I can't read the article but I am sure they were asked a question and they answered honestly.

It's not like Team Sweden chooses what the newspaper writes.

If they have two, Sweden should get one of them since we're ranked #2, right?

If Sweden were hosting the WJC this would never ever happen, but if it did, I know that the Canadians would be pissed. But when it happens to us over and over again, it's simply "funny" to the Canadians.

It's hard to accept bad things when you are from one of the best countries to live in I guess.

I can only imagine if the roles were reversed and the Canadians were made to dress in the same accommodations for a day.

You think the thread on the Oilers NYE dining was ridiculous? The ensuing thread would make that one look like a discussion on thermo-dynamics.

Thats why I mentionned that the players weren't using at as an excuse, but the newspaper (media) is. It's the newspaper who I meant that shoulden't have said anything unless they were getting ready to use it as an excuse.

It was a story about the WJC. If the roles were reversed would you expect every member of the Canadian media to ignore it?

Because it still is weird that a huge hockey nation can't afford to have better dressing rooms.
