With what's his name leaving, who's it going to be?
I'd think the likely pick would come from the current alternates (Armstrong, Bogosian, Hainsey, Kozlov), but not sure any of those is the right choice.
Armstrong seems like he's mailed in most of this year. Bogosian is still too young. Hainsey....meh. Kozlov has been a healthy scratch the past several games, and really isn't exactly the precedent we want to establish for the rest of the team as far as effort goes.
Tough call, I hadn't really thought about a replacement. None of the alternates are showing enough to deserve it. Slater comes to mind, but it's too early in his performance to give to him. If he keeps his game up he should get it.
Because we need more players like him... He has a great attitude... like an i don't care about the other team attitude.
Anyone else besides Bogo, Enstrom named captain is a waste.
Reasoner? Why would it be given to a 50 year old meaningless player on this team? Give it to the kids like everyone is doing.
And we need more players with great attitudes. We need some cheap shot artists on this team. I'm sick of being the soft. And honestly i'd love for our team to start hitting people hard and playing like goons. It's what we need. We play what is known as soft hockey (no defense, no hard hitters, no instagators). Armstrong is the only one on our team that slightly fits the bill of what i want.
Change of ways needs to be made for next year it is important. Which is why i want Lapierre so bad and want Ott signed in the offseason (Lol i love dreaming)

Reason: use of derogatory term
Reasoner's 32. he's got 5 or 6 good seasons left in him. He's a hard nosed player with a good work ethic. He's been a quality pro for a while. He's also one of the few that seems to care
Reasoner is probably the best choice. IMO, the best captain that this team has had was Scott Mellanby, and on this current roster, Reasoner is the closest thing to that.
Give the A's to Kubina (If he re-signs), Antropov and Enstrom (If Kubina doesn't re-sign).
4th liners can't be captains because they play too small a role for the team. When Kovalchuk leaves, I think the "C" will remain vacant until next training camp at least.
Having said that, if I had to pick anyone right now, it would probably be Hainsey. To the people saying it should be Reasoner or Boulton... I really doubt Anderson will chose someone to lead the team who he hasn't even given an "A" to.

I think Bogosian or Kane will be the eventual captain for the Thrashers, but I agree that Hainsey would make a good captain pro tem. He supposedly pretty vocal in the locker room and gives a strong effort every night (even if he isn't the most talented guy in his own end). And that's what the team needs out of their captain, someone who works his ass off everynight, not just when its convenient.

I agree on Reasoner. Reasoner is a team guy is plays his rear off and sets a good example. I agree that he has a good 4-6 years left in his tank as well.
Enstrom is too quite to be a captain.
Bogo, maybe in the future, but I have a hard time giving it to a 20 year old. And don't bring Crosby up, I don't think he should have got it as young as he did.
Reasoner is soft. I don't even want him here after this year. We need to re-build. He is a 4th liner - 3rd liner at best... but when your a Thrashers, anyone can be a 1st liner... see Nik Antropov
none this season. despite bogosian's atrocious play this season he is a good leader as evidenced by the fact that he has an a in the first place. don't give it to role players like reasoner or armstrong that could be gone in an instant.
next season i would like to see
A-bogosian
A-kane
A-enstrom
A-peverley
despite the fact that enstrom is probably the best player on the team besides kovalchuk i don't think he's very vocal, so don't give him anything more than an A. peverley has faced adversity and uses smarts just as much as talent which usually equates to good material for a captain but there's no guarantee he continues to be a top 6 player. despite their age i think kane and bogosian are the best options. it'll probably come down to them. probably not for a season or two though.
Definitely talks a much bigger game than he actually plays, I don't want to see him anywhere near a leadership role until he decides to play with the urgency/aggression for the puck a top defenseman has to show. I'd actually really like to see him traded, what use is an "offensive specialist" with a terrible slapshot that is our 4th best option (at absolute best) on the point? If he was solid in his own end it might be different, but as it stands now he is almost assuredly the weakest link on our defensive corps (assuming Popovic will go away already).

You're upset that a guy who has more assists than:
Alfredsson, Gomez, Towes, Sharp, E. Staal, Roy, Carter, and Lidstrom
And more points than:
Poni, Kovalev, Roy, Brown, Briere, Vanek, and Kessel
Is getting Top 6/first line minutes four our team?
