National Anthem in Corel Centre

me and my freind were having a discussion about the anthem being played at the Corel Centre. We both feel that that guy who sings it shouldnt be waving the flag at the end and rooting for the Sens simply because it is Canada's National Anthem and there should be no bias or that type of celebrating during its play

what do you think?

well he is singing in Ottawa isn't he..I mean how often do you see people singing the national anthem wearing a leafs jersey at the ACC. It's just to get the fans going nothing personal. Let's remember, the Sens are after all a Canadian team.

I like the portly fellow, bias be damned. He can cheer for the Sens all he wants, its their home arena and stuff.

There's way too much fuss over anthems nowadays. Just stand there with your hat off, more respectful than anything else

Yeah I agree, it doesn't matter. Like do you expect the guy to put on a Leaf jersey or the other way around? The person put on a Sens jersey at the ACC. It doesn't matter, all that matters is that you show respect for your national anthem and stand up when its played.

Well, better him than Jann Arden. Did you hear her butcher the Oh Canada on Saturday? My god, it was the worst singing of the anthem I've ever heard. That's not an exaggeration.

Yeah, that was god-awfully atrocious

I like Lyndon, seems nice and plump and happy to be there, plus he can sing like no one's business

Now there's one thing we can agree on. I was just shocked.

Good Lord that was awful. I couldnt believe how crappy it was, I thought she was decent too!!. But perhaps the anthem was not a good outlet for her vocal skills

The white towel symbolizes surrender. I don't believe it should be waved while singing the national anthem, it is a horrible, horrible thing to do, and the man is making CANADA as a whole look bad, but hey, whatever...it's Ottawa...we won't see t again this season, win or lose. (unless we lose and watch Ottawa home games...but I know I won't watch the start of every game if we lose...)

As far as bias goes, let him have it, we all have it to some degree.

I think instead of the anthem they should sing the Spongebob theme song...that's a great tune. I get emotional when I hear it.

I was really excited when they said Jann Arden would be singing the National Anthem at the Vancouver Calgary game. I've watched her in a bunch of interviews and think she's super cool, but then she belted out the first note and it just when downhill from there. Good god, was it ever terrible. It was like a bad accident that I couldn't take my eyes off of. I vaguely remember someone else killing it at the beginning of a Leafs playoff game a couple of years ago. I believe it was the Bare Naked Ladies, but I'm not completely sure.

As for the jovial dude at the Corel Centre, I don't mind him. I enjoy hearing the National Anthem and the beginning of games is the only time I hear it. So I'm just happy for that.

The Canucks anthem singer takes the cake. There are none better, except maybe Michael Burgess.

I personally think Lyndon's one of the best anthem singers in sports. He's got a great voice, has that feel good look to him, is helping protect the communities when he's not singing, and shows pride in the team that he's singing for. Better than that piece of turd jinx opera singer that the Leafs have singing (I know he did game 2, not Burgess).

I think Lyndon also sings the anthems very well, the Leafs have the worrrrrst anthem singers, CBC should just go back to showing commercials during anthems in Toronto. Also the Dj at the ACC is out of touch, I swear I hear "The Jeffersons" theme every game!!!!! WTF is MLSE thinking!!!???? you think the theme from "The Jeffersons" is going to pump up the crowd!!!????? LMAO. The ACC is the most boring place to watch a game in the free world.

They play the Jefferson's theme when they move someone down from the nosebleeds at the ceiling of the ACC to the front row.

the Welcome Back kotter theme is played when they are showing the alumni player that is the guest that evening.

They play the same songs or theme music at the same point of every game. Zero originality, just some monkey pushing play.

The DJ at the ACC constantly plays the music at the wrong time and the music to get everyone pumped is from 1972. This is just one of the many reasons why I think the fans are always so quiet there.
