Your biggest player disappointment

Putting aside the size of contracts and who "should" be better then what they are, this poll simply asks which player did you just truly believe was going to have a better season up to this point in time... thus, your biggest disappointment.

My nominee's are:

GP G A P +/-

Chris Drury 36 5 9 14 -8
Sean Avery 36 4 10 14 0
Chris Higgins 40 4 6 10 -10
Wade Redden 34 1 5 6 -1
Matt Gilroy 36 4 2 6 3

They are all very disappointing this year. I can see Avery getting it together aftre the olympic break. He seems to know when to turn it on. If you think about it the only time Avery really played that well for our team was after feb. Not saying thats acceptable though but its just seems to be the way he plays.

OP please. Again, contracts aside does that mean you're content with those 4 goals?

no it's not satisfying, but for a 2 mil cap hit there's worse contracts on the team.

I had Drury penciled in for his usual 50-60 points, 20-25 goals. I'd say I'm most disappointed with him because he's been the most consistent player throughout his career out of that group.

I'm disappointed with Drury, but I figured we weren't going to get anything spectacular out of him at this point anyway. Still though, didn't think it'd be as bad as it is.

Had to go with Higgins, who I thought was going to have a fantastic year here and force us to wanna sign him longterm. Gotta admit though, it was tough between him and Gilroy. Really thought he was gonna come out flyin' like MDZ did...

Cally. Honestly thought that after he was so productive at the end of last season, he'd push 30G and 60 points. I dunno if that was just stupid of me, but I'm big time disappointed that he hasn't produced even at the level he did last year.

Avery.

Brings nothing anymore. Once every few games he has a good, energetic, in your face game...but not nearly enough, especially when he is playing as well as Boyle offensively.

He's on pace for almost exactly what he put up last season. And he is always a second half of the year player. The dude is 2nd in goals and 3rd in points on the team as well..how could you call him your biggest disappointment? At least when he's not scoring he's not invisible out there.

First i thought of drury, but he wasn't really that great last year. But there was much talk about how we were going to love Higgins and how he would score 20 or 25 goals easy. So I'm going with the other Chris.

Drury, without a doubt. The man has reached rock bottom, but is still digging deeper with his bare hands. What a bust signing.

I just saw Higgins as dead weight for having to get rid of Gomez. I knew he couldn't hit open nets and knew what that would result in, on a team so scarce with chances. Higgins would logically pot very, very few goals, if he needs a ton of chances.

Kotalik is useless, but cheaper. Still, worth mentioning. Rozsival is also terrible. Avery is neutered. Heck, so many worth voting for.

Ditto. I bought into the Higgins hype.

How is drury the disappointment? if you guys think he was a 7mill player you are out of your minds. He was brought here for defense and some clutchin' not to be PPG.

Avery on the other hand has done absolutely nothing under torts.Practically insivible on the scoreboard and on the ice.

Read the OP. This has nothing to do with contracts. Out of the cast in the poll who up there has averaged 50-60 points and 20-25 goals for 10 years? I'd say it's very fair to be disappointed with Dru this year considering he'll likely fall very short of his averages.

I picked Drury. For some reason I thought he would thrive with a lot of the pressure being taken off of him to be a #1/#2 scorer... guess I was wrong.

Reading this thread angers me at how many players are disappointing. Honestly we have a pretty good lineup if Higgins, Avery and Drury return to form. They could form a decent second line if they were all playing to potential.

Drury.

I don't have the venom that some here seem to have for him, but he still isn't have a great year.

Higgins gets an Honorable Mention. I thought he would do a lot better than he has.

I picked Higgins, I was really excited to get him thought he could score 30 on a line with Dubi and Cally.

Can't say I am disappointed with Drury at this point it's clearly more like disgust. Same with Redden.

Gilroy catches a slight break because he is a rook.

Avery has been pretty terrible too, I hate watching him flounder on the ice and throw his arms up when he thinks he should be getting a call his way. Bury your head and play the game man you got this reputation on your own.
