Yan Stastny on re-entry waivers!!!

Will he clear or will someone pick him up. If the Avs were to pick him up that would make 5 Stastnys to play for us, we have no need for him though. Is there anyone out there who needs a little 3rd or 4th line center. He has 6 goals and 10 assists in like 90 career games. Any takers...

Montreal likes little people.

I find it odd that somehow, the entire history of the Nordiques has been absorbed by the Avalanche. Same organization, yes, but it still seems strange for an Avs fan to say Peter Stastny played for "us," let alone Anton and Marian as well. The OP being in "Owen Sound/London" suggests he might have been a Nords fan prior to the move, but I've seen the sentiment expressed by people who didn't follow the Nords.

To add to the thread, I will predict he gets picked up. In my recollection players who don't have high priced contracts don't often go on re-entry waivers unless there's a taker lined up.

Does St. Louis need the contract space, or might he actually see the Blues' roster? Otherwise, without a suitor what's the point? To save $125k?

Ya i've always been a Nords fan, good call. But I get what your saying though, I've meet kids who were born after the team re-located to Denver who talk like they used to go to every Nords game in history. I thought the same thing as you, there would be no reason to put him back on waivers unless some one was showing some sort of intrest in him. Doing it to save just $125k would be pointless.

He'll clear. Avs already had a chance once this year to claim him, but didn't. He isn't better than anyone currently starting for us, so the only reason we'd pick him up is because we have his brother. Not a good enough reason. We'll just keep Paul and thats all.

Yet people think the Avs should retire all the numbers Nordiques had retired, which to me, is stupid.

To contribute, I hope the Avs don't pick, don't think he would add anything, except make Paul feel good maybe. The way the Avs are paying him he should feel pretty ok already.

Word is Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop could be on his way up to St. Louis, too.
Very interesting that this information was put out. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

To most peoples knowledge, Mason and Conklin are just fine.

With how poorly Conklin played and Mason not going in, I wouldn't doubt that both of them have the flu - and that's why Conklin wasn't pulled after looking ridiculously shaky: because if both have the flu, playing both will just wear both out unnecessarily.

And then we discover that Jackman has flu-like symptoms, today.

Just speculation, but it fits.

I don't think Yan was recalled because there is somebody out there that wants him, I think he was recalled because Walt scored a goal off his face Saturday night and susposedly it is pretty bad. It was reported he had major dental work and his upper lip area was very nasty and he is very swollen. He left immediately after the incident(didnt even know he scored till the trainers told him hours later). So he is doubtful for the game Wed it seems. The organization said they are not sure yet if he will go on the West Coast road trip Wednesday or not. So it seems Stastny is more of an injury replacement for Walt.

Put him on the 4th line with Cammer and Army.
Perron-Backes-McDonald
Boyes-Bergy-Oshie
Steen-McClemment-Crombeen
Cam-Yan-Armstrong

Winchester seems to have really fallen out of favor with the organization. His last game was pretty bad so I'm guessing they'd rather risk losing Yan to waivers than insert Winchester...he must really be in the doghouse with the higher-ups, IMO.

Yan Statsny re-entry

It's probably because he's being re-called by the Blues because of injuries and that he has to clear the waivers first.

Salary cap and contract types have a lot more influence than the player's accolades these days.

Teams are more likely to pass these days because of the cap.
