From Tim P., Saunders also used the term "common sense":

http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landi...075&feedID=695

Quote:
The replay shown in the press box showed the puck clearly over the line as Johnson swipes it back out. Incredibly, the replay officials ruled it “inconclusive,” because you couldn’t clearly see the puck inside the net. Only the puck being swiped out of the net. Hence, no goal.

If ever a rule cried for common sense, this was it.

But hey, no one ever said the league office in Toronto loved the Flyers, eh?

Seems very low for him but maybe Laviolette is making a point that he can play better than he has lately.

Anyone know any details about the low ice time he got?
He was out, I noticed that.

Leighton was the player of the game for me, had about 5 "wow" saves included the "Left-handed Larceny" on Guerin and that nasty pad stop at the post on the PP when it was still 5-3 in the 3rd.

We seriously need some size on D, Syvret and Bartulis are small and Coburn is playing like he's 5'4, every non-Carle-Pronger shift was heart-attackish.

Awesome win though, I love how Lavi was specifically riding JVR to use his speed more a couple weeks back and now JVR is getting on the end of breakaway passes and blowing around guys on the outside, real coaching! Wow!

More beer, but unlike most times this season, it's not to drink into forgetfulness.

EDIT: To avoid confusion, Kimmo was 'out' as in 'not playing.'

Great game all around. Even with blown calls it was a straight up fun game to watch. Keep it rolling, boys!

He did have some good ones, the biggest wow he received from me however was 'wow, he's really far out from the goal' as Crosby banked one in. Still he played alright tonight, every shot is an adventure with him though.

21 is very, very fast. That kid is only going to get stronger. And how old is Bartulis? He certainly could use a few more pounds and a little edge to his game.

It's not so much using his speed, more so Lavi talking to JvR about keeping his feet moving. I guess JvR was standing around to much, so it'll take longe to get up to speed

From the Pens board:

Quote:
At least we can say that we were missing Gonchar & Fedotenko tonight. Even though Fedex has been horrible of late, its the only way I can console myself after watching this boring game.
Come on? A boring game? Win or lose there were 11 (12) goals scored in that game. Doesn't matter who you are cheering for, that was not a boring game. I didn't want to post this on the Pens board because last night I posted something on the Leafs board and got an "infraction" on my record .

Amazing what happens when you concentrate on playing the game instead of engaging in shenanigans and trying incessantly to get into fights and prove you're a tough guy. You can beat the Penguins! What a concept! I think they're starting to get it....

Yeah that sucked, but I still thought he played really well, made that huge glove save too on the rush (not the Left-handed Larceny one, a different one) plus that huge stop near the end when Hartnell was daydreaming again and not covering his man, so he saved 4-5 goals, cost us 1, not a bad deal.

Regardless, whatever he said appears to be working. That line is fun, Powe just murders people, Asham and JVR seem to have chemistry, end result is solid.

Yeah, he had some nice saves...he also gives up some atrocious rebounds, and that Crosby goal was just epic positioning fail.

Ugh. His rebounds have given me multiple heart attacks over the past seven games (or however many he has been playing). That is really the only problem that I have seen thus far with his playing. Other than he has been A OK during this stint in Philly.

He has the lateral movement of a freight train in reverse.... yet he still makes the saves <clanks>!

That left handed nonsense was shot into his motionless glove.

The line about every shot being an adventure was right on! Even with 6 goals I sure as **** never felt safe.

The JVR - Powe - Asham line is awesome. I can't remember the last time I have loved our bottom 6 so much.

Leighton still isn't great, but he wins, which is why he's still getting starts and Boucher isn't. I like winning more than losing.

I think we should pretend he doesn't exist, he really seems to thrive on the fan hatred.

I've been saying this for years. They thrive on it and have stated as such.

This was a statement win. I think the Flyers are back and once Emery gets back into his groove, we should see the emergence of the beasts from the East. The only thing that they still need to work on is faceoffs. I know people talk about Carter and Richards and their 50+ % win margins, but damn, they continually get owned by Pittsburgh in that department. Crosby was 18 of 29 for faceoffs tonight, just over 60%. Carter was 6 of 16 and Richards was 8 of 18. The Flyers can't continue to win if the top two draws are below 50% on their faceoff assignments.
