You have to wonder if Kaberle is causing the Hamhuis situation to be stalled.

From Felder's twitter. If this is true

Wolski was traded FOR Mueller...

What piece do we have that is comparable? It was clearly young scoring forward for young scoring forward...no defensemen involved...

We don't that's the point. We don't have anyone who can score besides Patric Hornqvist and Shea Weber. Hence the reason we have to trade for young scoring talent...

It's not that the current lineup we have is "bad," the deadline is about getting better--bolstering. I do think the Grebs trade was necessary, but I also think that if we make it into the playoffs, we're depending solely on a group of guys that has not been able to put the puck into the net with any consistency.

Your point is a good one. My point was simply that two young scoring forwards were available. One was 24, one was 21. This is a circumstance that we as organization should and need to be in on. Now, do I know if we had what it took here to make a trade? No - I think the situation probably precluded us from making a trade as both teams are contending and could not take a prospect. However, I still think my point stands that we are generally not in on this. Additionally, a little creativity, might have netted us one of the two - i.e. use a prospect/picks to acquire the player needed to land one of the scoring forwards. However, to do that, Poile would have to be creative, and we know that this is generally not in his nature.

I seem to have missed the young scoring forward to flip in this deal who went for picks/prospects. There was Poni for Skoula/Caputi, and ....... ummmmm ..... ???????? Torres doesn't seem to fit this mold.

Good, maybe now people will stop using it.

Not much has really happened to change the West all that drastically. Phoenix is the only team that has made a large number of moves, and whether or not most of those moves have improved their team is debatable.

Unless a big deal comes through at the last minute, I think we'll be okay.

I suppose we are officially done. Got great returns from our UFAs and prospects. Man do I sound bitter.

Let's hope we get the lucky bounces and garbage goals to get us into the playoffs. But at a 7th or 8th seed, we'll be facing San Jose or Chicago. It's not hard to predict how those potential series will turn out.

Calgary went with quantity over quality, it's not like it matters. If anyone, LA is something we should be worried about as they are going to be flying higher. But, I guess you're referring to teams WE are competing with, not teams ahead of us.

Basically PHX just got better. Colorado MAYBE. Ducks, yeah I'd say so. Still, we NEED to make the playoffs. Failure will not be tolerated.

according to John Glennon, we've made a deal for a "depth forward" for a draft pick this year. now we see if we actually got this one in on time.

Good deal, will help the penalty kill. Don't know who'll sit, but he's a pretty similar player to Smithson\Ward, Always seemed like a pain to play against.
