Forward Stride

I have a Q about the forward stride. When I speed it up, I have trouble shifting my weight between the two skates. My belly button/power pack just stays in the center because my legs move faster than I can shift the weight. Should I slow down and focus on doing it properly? Are there any drills I can use to improve that aspect of my stride?

I would definitely slow down your stride a bit in order to keep proper form. As far as drills go, you might want to see if your local rink offers off ice/dryland instructional classes. I've taken some off ice training classes and definitely helped increase core strength; plus the classes are specific to hockey.
