I am quite surprised, considering they gave up alot of future players / picks for Ashton didn't they? Someone pointed out that if they did trade Eberle away that would be like a tacit admission of a mistake.

In any case it will be interesting to see where he goes and how he does.

I think Ashton is 19 next year anyways. He might still come back.

It depends. Eberle an Teubert are not coming back for sure next year. Ashton will by all accounts be back. If they trade for players to help them next year then its not a bad thing.

The Pats website doesn't have anything about Eberle being traded. So ... yeah.

Looks like Eberle isn't going anywhere. Staying with the Pats.

Why would they call a press conference at 5? That ownership group in Regina is terrible if they called it to announce they are not making any deals

This explains why Brandon couldn't trade for Eberle - Hamonic:

Is there any reason why that can't wait until next season? After training camp and exhibition games?

Their roster is pretty stacked, I can't understand how that team can not make the playoffs unless their goalie is terrible. There not a lot of time so they got to get on a hot streak but over a full season thats a playoff team.

I agree. Nothing is gained by putting him in the nhl this year.

I disagree. I think we can learn a little more about where he is at. Its either put him in Springfield to play against men on a terrible team or put him in here in Edmonton to play against better men on a terrible team.

I'm not saying its the best option but I disagree that nothing would be gained by calling him up to the show.

There's nothing to be lost by a few games after his season with Regina ends. Fans get to see him, we get to gauge where he's at, he gets an idea of what he's in for and has the summer to work on his game.

Seems win-win-win to me. Not like it'll hurt his development; it's only a couple games.
