Ced Desjardins

Basically the article says how great he has been playing and only has one thing on his mind. NHL. He said it would be a great honor for him to wear the CH.

For those who have doubts about our future in net. Desjardins was named goalie of the month of Dec. in the AHL. He went 8-0 with a 1.16 goals allowed and a 949 save %. Wow !

He also comments on how good PK is and that his stint in the AHL will be really short !

sorry its in french

Like the kid's ethic. Don't see him becoming a starter in the NHL, but could be a real decent backup sooner than later.

What makes you so certain that he can't be a starter ? Are you saying this from watching him in the juniors in Quebec ? I remember a certain P Roy, damn that guy had horrible stats in junior hockey.

Now all the hardcore Subban lovers will create threads like ''BRING PK UP ALREADY'' and ''PK IS READY FOR THE NHL''

Desjardins is the next Danis. he,s gonna be a very good AHL goalie who will graduate in the NHL when he,s older and will become a solid backup... Hopefully in Montreal.

It's funny you mention this ? Tell me he would be worse right now than, Mara or Spacek. I didn't think so.

So... having bad stats in the Q + having good stats in the AHL = HHOF

Im not saying he's going to play bad if he comes, Im just saying that he should stay in the AHL for as long as possible cuz once he's ready I doubt he will go back

As for Mara and Spacek...no comment

Really? I thought Price was the next Patrick Roy? I'm confused.

So far is won it all every where he played, Q, ECHL and maybe this year in the AHL.
This guy never did get enough credit for what is done. He could be a pleasent surprise
some sort of Tim Thomas, a late bloomer.

I've been hearing this for years....this guy in the minors/juniors can't be as bad as this guy on the current roster. Until a player actually plays in the NHL, for the most part, it's really hard to say if he can be better than a player that has been in the NHL for years.

Not saying Subban wouldn't be better than, let's say Mara, right now, but it is definately not a no brainer or a given fact.

Big, big, big difference playing against junior/AHL'er than playing against NHL'ers.

Exactly.

And I recall folks on here saying the same about Weber. Call him up because he can't be worse than so and so. Well, we did and he was. It's a completely different world in the NHL.

And I'm very optimistic about Subban, but they're doing the right thing for sure by giving him a full year (plus playoffs) in the AHL without ever calling him up. To be tempted to do otherwise would be a Leaf move. And unless you want 1993 to be our 1967, I'd avoid that philosophy on "development."

Halak will get traded, Sanford gets called-up for remainder of the seaswon, Ced will win it all for Hamilton and be our back-up next year.

2010-11

Price - 60 games 35-20-5 2.60 912%
Desjardins - 22 games 12-6-4 2.34 GAA 920%

If Halak was moved from now to the deadline I would think another back up would be coming our way,if not I would bet they call up Sanford over Desjardins. But he will have a fair shot next camp for the back up job

This doesn't make any sense, have you watched him play? What makes you know these kinds of things, do you have a crystal ball?

So if Des comes up and outplays Price...do we have to continue playing Price because he was supposed to be the best? I hope not.

Thanks.

RIP Expos. I know it's off-topic, but maybe we could pair Archi Cianfrocco with Gorges on D? Or add some speed with Spike Owen on Pleks' wing. Yes, I'm still in denial.

He is, so let's say that Desjardins is the next Brodeur.

Next Roy
Next Brodeur

Not a bad 1-2 punch!

Spacek? How has he been bad?

Oh wait, I forgot, this is HFBoards, where prospects are always better than established NHL players.
