My dad met Michael Barnett (ex-GM of the Coyotes) and said he was traded to Pittsburgh cuz he scored a couple of goals and tried to score more... and stopped fighting. Apparently there was some situation that occurred where Laraque wasnt on the ice and didnt step in... resulting in his trade to Pittsburgh
you don't really see the guy fight much more.. but honestly, how many situations have you seen the habs in where Laraque needs to step in?
I used to love when Laraque would start punching a guy, grab his helmet, smack him with it and then continue punching. That was back in the day when he was mean and trying to make a name for himself.
...and now, he follows the imaginary protocol that he thinks he is the protector of.
1- never fight a guy who is not "in your weight class" no matter how much he is running around hitting your team mates.
2- make sure your opponent is fully aware in advance.
3- only have staged fights from the face offs.
It is not that I would want Laraque to act like an enraged animal and just attack anything. I would like him to instigate, to protect his team mates. To be a factor in the game.
He just seems uninvolved. and an uninvolved Laraque is a useless roster spot.
