Rangers Prospect Poll: #4

Despite a recent cold streak in Hartford, Evgeny Grachev still came in third in our rankings with the majority of the vote in the round, proving that even though Ranger fans on this forum are criticized for quickly jumping on and off the bandwagon, this is not true for a large majority of us.

The vote for the prospect to be added to the poll was:

Ethan Werek: 14
Chad Johnson: 5
Ryan Bourque: 3
Heineken: 2
Hagelin: 1

Instead of just writing "DZ" or "AA", state why you chose that particular. This would actually be a very good way to learn (and argue) about prospects. And don't forget to list who you want added to the poll in the next round. (Remember, we are using the HF standard for who's a prospect: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect)

TOP PROSPECTS

1. D Michael Del Zotto
2. C Artem Anisimov
3. LW Evgeny Grachev

Damn that was quick. I posted this and immediately voted within a second. Yet, The (Young) Captain already had a vote.

Thanks for insinuating that everyone who voted for Stepan last round is a bandwagon fan.

No, I think he deserves that. I voted for him. But he wouldn't have been #4 if we voted prior to the tournament. He'd have been maybe 7-8.

Oh ok, just seemed like a shot at those voters since "bandwagon" is usually used in a derogatory way.
And I completely disagree, Stepan has been one of our most exciting prospects for a while now.

He would have definitely still been 4 or the most 5th.

He probably wouldnt have got as many votes as he did for 3rd though before his huge breakout tournament.

That is a pretty dick line though you threw in there, not going to sugarcoat that.

But didn't a lot of people jump on the Grachev bandwagon after his performance at the WJCs last year?

I think a valid argument can be made for either Grachev or Stepan at the #3 spot.

Sangs, don't know as much about Stepan (even though his WJC was awesome) as i do about Sangs. I still feel he'll turn out very solid

Sanguinetti...right now, of the prospects with the most ability, he's the closest to making the NHL. Add Johnson.

Tough call between Stepan and Sanguinetti.

Sangs is the closest to ready and looks like a NHL player.

Watched every USA game and Stepans WJC still makes me smile.

Stepan

Add Johnson

EDIT: This should really probably be Sangs but the WJC just won't let me do it...even though it is just one good tourny.

Sangs. I have no idea why so many people overlook this kid. DZ doing well doesn't change the fact that Sangs is having a hell of a season as a still very young AHL defenseman. Stepan looks good, but he should still be behind the prospect who looks just as good in a pro-hockey setting.

Add Bourque.

Wow. I took the comment to mean that people still see Grachev's upside and aren't letting his recent slump affect their voting. Didn't occur to me at ALL to think that the bandwagon comment was a reference to one of the players that wasn't picked last round.

Stepan. Add Johnson.

It was a snide comment regardless and completely unnecessary. His comment later on about how Stepan would be 7 or 8 before the WJC tournament indicates he was referring to Stepan as well.

Like someone said, there could have been a very good argument why both players could have been #3 or #4..
