IMO, a much more pertinent question would be how well do you think the Rangers would do if they made the playoffs.

Of course we will, we can't decently let the Devils pass the first round. :X

I want to know if people think the rangers will make the playoffs or not. that question is entirely different.

Last month I thought the Rangers would make the playoffs but it seemed 60% of the boards were calling for tanking and how we won't make the playoffs (Which I guess turned out to be 52.87%). It should be interesting to see how flaky some people are on this board.

Yes, they will make the playoffs. I've been saying it from the start of the season, to the slump where most demanded the Rangers to tank, and to now. There's no way we miss it with Lundqvist and Gaborik.

i guess this is a step up from the thread where half the guys wanted us to sell at the deadline even though we're 7 points away from home ice advantage with 2 games in hand.

i'm going to go ahead and say yes we'll make the playoffs.

If Henrik and Gaborik play like themselves, its not even a debate.

If they both play at their absolute maximum, then it could be a question of getting a top 4 seed. The conference isnt all that strong outside of a few teams.

I agree. Lundqvist almost beat the Caps by himself last post-season with hardly any support in scoring, and in my opinion, they're the best offensive team out there. Just think, with the secondary scoring coming around, we might have a decent run.

My opinion.

.

My heart wanted me to vote yes, but my head looks at this team with the holes that it has and I can't vote yes.

Additionally, our 2 best players are headed to the Olympics playing in a very tough tournament down the stretch which can tire them out for the 1.5 months after they get back.

As it is, I'm not confident in this team, taking into consideration the Olympic factor, I can't comfortably vote that they will be in the PO's.

I think we sneak in as the 7th or 8th seed. And as usual are quickly dispatched in the first round unless we play the Debbies of course.

have you looked at the other teams in the Eastern conference. Besides the Devils EVERY team has some huge holes in it.

I dont' think this team is great, we are good, but when you see the other teams in this conference, all I can think is "How Can't we Make it?"

now if we were in Western Conference I don't think we would have a good shot.

This.

Hank is already playing more then he probably should. The Olympics wont help or worse.

I'm with PLD on this.

Even in that huge rough patch they were in I would've said they make the playoffs. What they do in the playoffs is a different story, and all hope is lost usually when in them.

However, I don't see a team with Lundqvist, AND Gaborik, not making the playoffs. Just doesn't seem possible. Plus, I believe we are a notch ahead of about 5-7 teams in the conference overall (so if push comes to shove, we'd automatically be in the 8-10 spots).

I'm with PLD on this.
NJD are sending Brodeur and parise
PITT is sending Malkin Crosby
PHI is sending Pronger and Richards
BUF is sending Miller
etc...

see that pattern here. We aren't the only team sending our best players. this olympic letdown is the biggest bs statement out there. It is basically a level playing field as all teams are sending their best one or two players at least to the Olympics.

this excuse is just a cop out and really holds no ground. Unless people actually believe that only our players will be affected by the Olympics, and that every other player who will play in them will come out feeling fine or even better.
