Is Bergfors at all available or is that just out of the question?

Take out Silfverberg and Johnson and you're closer.

I'm not a huge CPZ fan so I might not take that, but the value is there.

Yeah he didn't phrase it very clearly. As much as I'd love Vlasic, Clowe, a 1st and McGinn, I think we all know that's not very realistic.

I can't say I'm all for trading Volchy, but based on some of the responses in this thread i might be tempted to.

If the Sens can get a 1rst in 2010 along with an A or B level forward prospect they should ppull the trigger.

we aren't throwing in a promising prospect also...

I wouldn't give Volchenkov for a very late first and minor pieces either.

If he's traded, of the realistic options I really like osala+1st the most

Volchenkov and Petersson for Bergfors and a 4th? I know that's probably still off.

if the sens trade volchenkov, we better be replenishing our forward prospect ranks. If you dont have a future top-6 player (think hf 7Bish) in your package, the sens are better off gambling on the re-sign or walk situation.

From washington, i'd look at a package including osala or johansson
from pittsburgh, a package would have to include tangradi
i doubt boston wants to make another significant trade within the division that could hurt them in the future, but i would suggest boston would have to offer a package of prospects and picks, probably involving their first this year and a prospect or two
vancouver, i'd be looking at schroeder, or rodin, to be part of the package. I'm personally not a grabner fan, but i suppose sens management could be higher on him. Hodgson is obviously off limits.
One team i'll throw in there that probably doesnt get mentioned is phoenix. The majority of their top prospects are up front and if still making a playoff push at the trade deadline, the acquisition of volchenkov would make a huge splash and signal to the players and fans how important winning is to the organization this year. I'm not sure they could outbid some of the other top competitors, but its possible they could be in the hunt.

a couple of other notes about the sens: unless you think a prospect could make your team next year, dont offer someone without waiver exemption for next year. If you dont know what that is or if the prospect has it, go ask someone on your board. Also, dont ask for a sens prospect with waiver exemption for next year back. This includes all our prospects from the past 2 drafts.

Johansson?

Andrew Gordon(38 games 18g 20a 38pts +14 Hershey) or Osala(32 games 10g 6a 16pts +/- 0) and the first round pick.

I think that is doable.

Hell, I'll give Gogo or Letang + picks/prospects at this point. Pens D has been brutal lately. Lots of upside in the 2 Pens youngsters (Gogo & Letang) but dealing with the inconsistencies of both of them is too much for this team to overcome sometimes.

Jam packed defense.

Would be looking for forwards

Jam packed without Volchenkov?

If that's true, it would have to be a 3-way deal then.

Pens give Letang or Goligoski + picks/prospects and get Volchenkov

Ottawa gives Volchenkov and gets a young forward + picks/prospects

Mystery Team gives a young forward and gets Letang or Goligoski

You Damn Ottawa fans have to make things more complicated.

We need a cheap young forward for the top 6 next season or we're in cap hell.

Like I said, the only remote possibility is a 3-way deal and that's unlikely.

Who do Pens fans think will be better? I'd say Letang, but you guys obviously know better than I do.
And if you guys throw in a potential top 6er, I'd be pooping rainbows.

Letang because of his all around defensive game. He's stronger and more physical/aggressive than Gogo is defensively and has good offensive upside too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Goligoski was the higher scoring D-Man of the 2 in their careers and Goligoski will be a better PP QB.

Never knew he was a free agent, easily a Burke type player.

With Karlsson coming up I think Letang would be more interesting. Letang seems to me like a poor mans Lidstrom, or maybe even a poor mans Dan Boyle without the power play prowess.

How would Volchenkov, Campoli, SJ 2nd for Gogo and Letang sound? Or would you not be prepared to give both of them up?

Toronto offers hagman.

Top6 winger, slick moves, would be great on a hag-spezza-kovalev line.
