Hopefully he is a pernament call up. I Know as many Ottawa fans hope, that a AHL kid impacts enough to actually stay up.

Good luck Daugavins! This guy has persevered through very little ice-time last season. I hope Clouston gives him a fair shake and that he does well.

I also hope Ilya is watching NHL network with Russian subtitles, crying and shoveling back the babka gaining 12 lbs. (ok exagerating)

Zubov's skill would be nice at this time however.

he didnt show anything with the chances he got.... same reason why MSP was sent down, hasnt show anything

Just look at Regin, you actually noticed him out there last season when he got his call up chance

K-Daug could be something good for us in the future, hope he plays well

Zack Smith hasn't been bad. Hennessy wasn't too bad, I thought Keller and MSP were though.

Yeah, i'm just kidding. I really would have liked for him to stick around and was pretty dissapointed when he was not able to make the team/accept the demotion. All these forward/"top 6" injuries just brings him to mind because this would have been his chance.

Either way, back to Daugavins, i'm interested to see how his apparently gritty game will translate to the NHL, if he will keep it up with the big team or try to dipsy doodle too much. I have not seen much of him at all, should be fun.

Last year yes, but I guess only a brief stint defines someones entire career. It is HF afterall.

I'm not saying the Zubov situation wasn't handled properly, cause clearly he has attitude problems, but the guy does has more natural skill (if he can apply it to the NHL or not is another story) than pretty much the rest of our forwards we can call up, even some on the main roster

yeah, KDAUG!!!

i know a lot of people are unimpressed by his AHL performance, but he really strikes me as the type of player that can be effective at the NHL level as a 3rd/4th liner without much of a scoring past. Its not like we're expecting a 20 goal scorer in that role anyways.

alright, another callup. Let's see what this one can do.

What are his stats?

Seems like ever since he asked for a trade, Ottawa has lost interest in him, and his career with Ottawa went down the hole. Never had big expectation's from the kid anyways.

Shows why patience is a must with young players, has rebounded in a big way. His passing is really good too.
I imagine his work ethic as well as is fitness has improved as well? I remember that he struggled with this in the OHL...

Glad to see that plenty of AHL'ers are being given a shot as it keeps thier hopes up which I like. However, I am not expecting much from Daugavins and others etc...

To be honest, I thought he was terrible. I didn't think he was doing anything that had made him successful in the past. He wasn't skating hard, he wasn't hitting much, he was basically floating and took a couple of bad penalties....

He and Bass I am extremely dissapointed in thus far over the past 2 seasons. I imagined two hungry hitting machines with solid two way ability. I've been dissapointed by both...

I thought that he and Regin would have cracked the Sens out of camp - or at least by now. But when he showed up out of shape, that ended that in a big hurry. Then he asked for a trade and I doubt many of us cared at that point anyway.

He was loaned to Salavat UFA for the year.

And I don't see him as having attitude issues - if I recall correctly, the 'trade request' was actually the Ottawa brass making a statement which was a bit vague.

The year before, the guy stayed in Ottawa in the offseason to work out here. I'm not sure what he did just this past offseason, but to me it seemed like he was committed to making it in the NHL at some point. And I think that he honestly could've just as easily made the team at the start of the year as any of our 4th liners, but just lost out on the numbers game.

Nikulin on the other hand, was a whiny brat in the end - and yes him and Zubov really could've had their opportunities if they'd stuck around riding the busses. But to each their own.

This move is quite surprising. Surprising to the point that it could possibly be a showcase. Daugavins is not ready for this and fans are likely to be underwhelmed. His speed, although fine in spurts, is not suitable for the NHL right now. He was much quicker three years ago and hasn't been the same since. He tires easily and still holds the puck a second too long. His points have come mainly due to his hockey sense and positioning. He is no longer as gritty as he was either. As an 18-year old I was enamored with his game and envisioned him in the mold of Esa Tikkanen, but now he needs to regain his speed, stamina, and spunk.

Yup, both have been disappointing, but not as bad as O'Brein has been..

Smith hasn't been in the organization two years.
