It's called spin. That's all they're doing at this point for the average non-hardcore fan.

At least I hope.

If by holding out hope he means hope that the team makes the playoffs, then all I can say is that I am holding out hope that I win the Lotto Max lottery and right now my chances are looking about the same as those of the Oil. (BTW: I don't have a ticket)

Been a while since he's showed up.
It's like pulling teeth trying to get an interview with him or anything regarding potential trades or opinions on Hall.

I just tuned in but it must already be over.

If he said anything about making the playoffs this year, the man is either a liar or a fool.

For the Edmonton Oilers to make the playoffs we have to go 26-8-3.

To paraphrase the great Rod Phillips from last night... "Do you want the 26 wins all in a row, or spread out?"

If this is true he should not be a Gm of any franchise in the NHL.

Love Rod. I kinda hope he comes back and does colour. He can't quite keep up with the game anymore, but I love his insights and comments and I think would be great at it.

something to keep in the back of your mind when it comes to how 1260 deals with the oilers(according to one of the blogs) oilers contract with ched is due to expire at some point in time and 1260 wants to get the rights and the first rule is--you give them free passes sometimes. example of that was the 45 minutes greiger had on just a game about the olympic torch relay--anyone know the history of how it started? I suspect the two bimbos greiger had on knew all about it and the political and other elements that were involved in the original relay runs. It was full filler to avoid talking about the oilers

(Just to be clear, when we were down by 3 last night with almost no time left, Rod quipped that a players should have asked "Okay Pat, do you want me to win the game, or just tie it?")

Do you actually try to write offensive posts or is it a talent that just comes naturally?

Thats good stuff. His comments dont give me any confidence, neither do his roster moves. Lets hope he makes good choices. We dont really have a choice in the matter. I think we should get Halak. That is an obvious move that needs to be made. I would even have him tandem with DD just to make sure we dont win too many games.

If this team is trying to stay competitive and win, then we should have zero confidence in our management.

If this team is trying to do a rebuild through sweet draft positioning without showing their hand, then they are doing a wonderful job.

I used to like how Tambo kept his cards close to the chest, but now it just seems like he's just shy because he's got nothing to say.

What was said in the presser for those who heard it? Obviously nothing of significance, but can we get a quick recap please.

Heard part of it, my recap...

I think I heard him defending the Captain's "dumb penalties" (exact words of the reporter). I don't expect anyone from the Oilers throw Moreau under the bus, but man trying to defend his clutch sin bin visits... come on.

I'm curious... what moves do you think he should make? You said yourself it's practically impossible for the Oilers to make the playoffs. So why the HELL would you want him to make any moves right now?

And that's assuming it takes 92 points to get into the playoffs again this year (as it did the past 2 years).

This year is looking more like it will take 96-97 points - so make it 28-6-3.

Because most here, as it is now, do not ever see this team winning. So we would want him to make moves to shed off whatever players he can (Moreau, O'Sullivan, etc) for potentially useful future players (or maybe someone such as a Curtis Glencross type player).
