Preds Extend Coaching Staff

In Predators news today...

General manager David Poile said Thursday he told the coaches shortly after Thanksgiving that the team had chosen to pick up the option years for 2010-11, and added an option year for 2011-12. Terms of the new contracts have not been disclosed.

“Our coaches are doing a really good job and our record is really good,’’ said Poile, who did not make public his decision at the time.

“There’s certainly no reason I would want to go in a different direction and they felt the same way about staying. We’ve got a good group right now.’’

Since the whole Leipold fiasco, the entire hockey ops side of the organization has pretty much been running on one-year deals. Glad to see that they all want to remain here and continue developing one of the best organizations in hockey today...

I had hoped that Trotz and Peterson would get picked up, but that Horachek would get Gardner'd. Year after year our PP is in the bottom 5...you can't continue to blame personnel.

I don't know what to say. At times Trotz and company so clearly out-perform expectations that it is really cut-and-dried......you keep them. Then you see the same deficiencies in their teams year after year after year, and you wonder.........

I can't argue with this move right now, but I will say that the continued disregard for a putrid powerplay is inexcusable.

1.) Deal was made back around Thanksgiving? Six weeks plus for this story to get out? Huh? What happened here? Crappy reporting? Or the Preds didn't think this was newsworthy to the public or what? Strikes me as very strange that nobody found this out and reported it or somebody in the organization wanted to sit on this information.

2.) What's Poile's status, still year to year?

Interesting.....I wonder if there is a Poile deal in the works? He's the most important part of the mix.
