Price's Goalie Coach Fired By Sens

http://twitter.com/TSNwally

Eli Wilson, the goalie coach for Carey Price in the off season, has been fired as the goalie coach of the Ottawa Senators.

If it had been a year ago, I'd be wondering if Montreal would snap him up, but given we have a new coach and Halak and Price are both having great seasons.. I cannot fathom that.

I also wondered the same. I doubt we see that happen. Seems strange to replace your goalie coach in the middle of the season though. I wonder how long before Murray feels the heat. He has done such a tremendously terrible job running that team I'm surprised he's still around as it is.

Was he also Lalime, Emery, Gerber, Elliot and now Leclaire's goalie coach? If he is, luckily we didn't hire him.

He was in his third year with the team, so no.

He was the coach of:

-Elliot
-Gerber
-Emery (for his implosion season only)
-Leclaire
-Auld

And any prospects. Murray specifically noted in his quote that the goalies at both the NHL and AHL level were not progressing as he'd hoped. Remember, goalie coaches cover both levels.

Price and Halak are doing great, why would you bring in a goalie coach who isn't getting performance out of the goalies he is mentoring???

I said specifically in the post that doing so would make absolutely no sense... So, since no one has suggested this. I agree with this post

In the offseason he runs goalie schools for several pro goalies. He's also the personal offseason goalie coach of Carey Price.

Well, only Leclaire has somewhat potential. Lalime excelled in Ottawa.

But...but... I thought all he did was hang out at bars during the off-season!

Eli Wilson was Emery's off season goalie coach, then after his Stanley Cup run, the Sens hired him to be their full time goalie coach, more less because of Emery. Emery imploded and Wilson has continued in the role up until now.

Sens fan here. Trust me sens fan wanted him fired for a good month now... With the way your tenders have been playing, i dont think that you would want him.
