Kovalchuk will never come that cheap, and why are we getting rid of Penner at his salary?

Can people stop with these pipe dream lineups, the fan base is almost as bad as management is with this stuff.

I doubt the Penguins trade "Syd" to anyone. Plus, The oilers don't have much to give in return....

I'm being sarcastic. You arent getting Kovalchuk or Marleau and if we are "predicting" lineups you can pretty much assume theres 0% probability of someone taking Horcoff from us.

Dear god where do they get some of you guys from.

Yeah, and all due respect it says "predict next year's lineup." What you have here looks more like a wish list, not a prediction.

I'm going the slow rebuild route by tossing the kids/rookies to the wolves. Hall this year and Larsson next year.

Penner - Brule - Hemsky
Nilsson - Gagner - Omark
Cogliano - Horcoff - Pisani
MPS - Hall - Eberle
Stortini, Potulny/JFJ

Visnovsky - Smid
Souray(eventually replaced with Larsson) - Grebeshkov
Chorney - Staios
Peckham

Khabby
Halak

anyone who has Kovey in the Oiler line up is telling everyone else just how little the understand the oiler situation---cap hit will be fore 7 to 8 million a year

I will play nice and put together a list of what the roster could be

LW--9.95
Penner (4.25)
POS (2.95
Moreau 2
JFJ (,750) RFA
c(10.70)
Gagner (2.00)--rfa
Horcoff (5.5)
Brule 2(rfs)
MAP (.770) RFA
rw--7.7
Hemsky (4)
Eberle (1.2--inc bonus)
Potulny (1.5) rfa
Stortoini 1mill
d--(21.25)
Souray (5.4)
Grebs (3.7)==RFA
Lubor (5.6)
Gilbert (4)
Smid (1.15)
Pekham (.600)
Chorney (,600)

G (5.5)
Habby 3.75
JDD 1.3

cap hit 55.1
cap for next maybe 56.8(this years)
room 1.7

Cogs traded at draft table for a 2nd and 3rd
Nilsson heads to europe
Staois traded for a 4th at this deadline
another year of cap hell

extremely slim, but you can't say there's zero chance.
stranger things have happened.

They have to make those guys understand the we have a good young team (Gagner, Grebeshkov, Smid, Eberle, Svensson, Perty, maybe Hall) and if they sign long-term with a lower cap hit, why would they just dismiss an oiler offer.

1- Because it's Edmonton
2- Marleau is on a stanley cup contender in a warm weather city, why would he leave?
3- Kovalchuk has stated that he doesn't want to play in a hockey crazed market, expect him to land in L.A.
4- Because it's Edmonton

all very likely to happen. Well planned and thought out. Will probably win us at least the division. I like how you just made a lost of guys who are gone. No explanation needed. Well done.

Apparently years past are irrelevant. Kovalchuk and Marleau will never be coming here. Why would they choose coming to a last place team, live in a fish bowl, and the coldest hockey market. Especially at those cap hits.

Offering these stupid contracts is not going to fix or problem. Properly rebuilding and developing your players will make it more attractive for people to possibly sign down the road. Having a ****** team but send a free agent a dvd isn’t going to bring them. We never have signed a large free agent in the summer and never will until we actually considered a contending team.

Kovalchuk wants the max, and he wont take a cut to come to Edmonton of all places, Marleau isnt leaving San Jose no matter what, he'll probly retire before he leaves them

Keep Penner, screw Pouliot, he can go and bring in Omark if we dont get Kovalchuk (which we most likely wont but I wont rule it out 100%) and if not him bring in MPS

Also Stortini is starting to lose his spot, I think we should be looking elsewhere for someone who can actually play while being able to fight and make hits

Sign Hamhuis and Volchenkov, get rid of Souray, Gilbert/Grebs and Staios

This is what I would like to see

Kovalchuk/Hall-Brule-Hemsky
Omark/MPS/Hall-Gagner-Eberle
Penner-Potulny-Big UFA who can put the puck in the net
Jacques-FO winning UFA, preferably big-Stone

Visnovsky-Smid
Volchenkov-Gilbert/Grebs
Hamhuis-Choney

or something like that, its an unlikely dream but this is what I would like to see
