Clutterbuck: Gonchar better hope he retires

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10014...#ixzz0cd7QINGx

Quote:
Clutterbuck aimed a threat at Gonchar after that game, telling the Star-Tribune of Minneapolis: "He better hope he retires at the end of the year, I'll tell you that. Somebody's going to hurt him before the end of the year. Someone will. It's not going to be me, but someone will."

The Penguins and Wild don't play again this season, unless they meet in the Stanley Cup final.

Told of Clutterbuck's comments, Gonchar smiled and said, "I wish we would play them again."
Well, that's a pretty dumb thing to say. It doesn't make sense either, he better hope he retires at the end of the year, but someone's going to hurt him before the end of the year? I wasn't aware that Clutterbuck had vigilantes leaague wide looking to avenge him. Gonchar's hit was dirty, but seriously?

Well he does lead the league in hits, but yeah that was a pretty stupid thing to say.

If Avery can get fined for sloppy seconds, I'm thinking Buttercup will see some sort of reprimand here.

Wow, I do believe that was a threat.

Heck, if everyone who made a questionably dirty play was hunted down, this league would be pretty much nothing but Nick Lidstrom and a few goalies.

I wonder if Clutterbuck will take off his visor when he avenges himself?

Clutterbuck isn't going to be avenging himself, he's gonna get someone else to do it.

I am personally placing a hundred-dollar bounty on the head of Sergei Gonchar. He's the head coach and chief punk on that Pittsburgh team.

Cal was definitely upset with the hit and still fuming after the game when these comments were probably made. It was one of the dirtiest hits of the year and was looking to injure Clutterbuck, no doubt about it. Gonchar even said he wanted to get him back. Gonchar complaining about a finished clean check right before is the weakest part about this. Think he's that good people shouldnt finish checks on him which wasn't even a hard hit and hands were down and said he hit him in the head? Also what if Clutterbuck did that? Suspended probably 5 games. Clutterbuck is not a dirty player by any means. Never suspended/fined, keeps elbows/hands down and doesn't run guys. Just finishes his checks hard.
And I bet the Pens really want to play the Wild again because they were a nice 0-2 against them this year.

Awesome. Should make for an interesting game the next time the Penguins face the Wild, assuming Gonchar re-signs.

Weren't these comments made in the moments after the game when he was still pissed off, as he should be at that bush league play...

Gonchar is a 15 year veteran number one defenseman with an alternate captaincy.

Cal Clutterbuck is a 22 year old grinder with less than 150 games in the league.

He's got to be out of his mind.

In the video when he made the comments, I took what Clutterbuck said was meant in jest. And was more of a shot at the way Gonchar is playing the game at this point in his career. Scared.

The Pens dominated the Wild in both games, and in the last one badly. I'm sure the Pens would love to try their luck against them.

Anyway...

Gonchars hit was dirty but the puck was by Clutterbuck and was deflected away at the last second. Gonchar was anticipating the puck to get to him more, but it didn't. However, he was reckless and did want to **** Clutterbuck up. Clutterbuck deserved it however, don't for one second think he didn't.

These comments are hysterical.

good... up the ante. everyone's always talking about how there's no physicality left in this game and how the NHL can't police itself.

have at it.

Gonchar could have done it this way instead of the cheapshot he threw.

Dumb thing to say, but it was a pretty dirty hit. Can't blame him for being pissed.
