What does Kessel thing have to with the Oilers?

Ok, you want to talk Oilers? fine. Let's take Penner. Supposing Lowe does not OS Penner and trades two 1sts and a 2nd. No difference you say?

Well, the difference in this case is MPS, which is pretty significant.

Burke will never trade with Edmonton.

A better prospect pool, better young NHL players and a good line on one of two prospects who should both be better than Kessel before their 21st birthday?

What is it; 1 goal and 6 points in his last 15 games now for Kessel? What a stud.

And MPS was picked 10th overall. Kessel might be worth one lottery pick, but he isn't worth two and a early second rounder.

But the Leafs have Kessel, so this argument is null and void.

Sorry, your hook missed.

You were the one who was talking about it. So if you find it tiresome, go do something outside.

I talked about Kessel. That's allowed right?

I'm just gonna come out and say it: This place sucks with DSF around. When he was gone, everyone was looking forward to the draft and enjoying the tank. Now we all waste our time bickering about Horcoff and who the actual worst team in the league is.

This isn't an insult, the proof is in the pudding. He controls this board when he posts here, and it sucks the life out of the place.

Enjoying the tank?? Are you serious? Speak for yourself. Hooray, we are terrible and we are getting Hall. Big deal. T Bay has how many number 1 picks and where are they? You need to be able to build a team, not just stink and pick up players through the draft unless you get the once in a decade picks the Penguins got. This situation is what it is, and there is no sense in going too crazy about it, but to say this is enjoyable is nuts. At least DSF brings some truth to where we are at. I like to listen to both sides, that's what this board is about. Doom and gloom vs Strawberries and Marshmallows. Pick your poison.

Gagner 27 points /46 games

No, not even close..... The Leafs will be a cup contender in a couple of years because they have Kessel and the Oilers don't and the Oilers have no hope, they might as well fold the franchise and move to Houston.

Neither one will be cup contenders in the next five years.

They're both pathetic franchises but puffing up your chest because the Oilers have a "brighter future" is just silly.

Unless we draft Hall or Seguin. And if our team still sucks next year we can still use our own pick instead of having the league laugh at us like they are at the Leafs.

The Oilers have a really good prospect pool with the good chance of adding a blue chipper this summer and almost everybody seems to see this from "experts" to other teams fans to Oiler fans.... Almost everybody except you who trashes the Oilers and pimps other teams even the freakin Leafs for god sakes at every turn.

BBO, the league is already laughing at the Oilers (and Leafs) and I know you're smart enough to know drafting one 18 year old isn't going to change that.

I know!

I mean, because they have one good young player, there's no way the Oilers could best that.

We should just all bow now and get it over with.

Going into next season would you rather have a first round pick or 20 million in free cap space?

You guys see Kabanov drop in the ISS rankings? Imagine if we pulled a deal to get both Hall and Kabanov? *drools*

Not to pick on you or anything, but you seem to have a tendency to pull on data that supports your agenda.

The Oilers are a mess--everybody knows it, but there is no need to paint the picture gloomier than it really is.

Gagner is not the only young player in the system. And he's not the best player on the Oilers. It's not fair to compare him to Kessel at this time (Hemsky or Penner would be more appropriate, seeing as they are the best forwards on the team).

Hemsky, Penner, Brule, Smid, Eberle, MPS, high pick this year (likely Hall, Seguin or Fowler) are all excellent pieces to rebuild with. I am not going into 2nd tier guys--Lander, Nash, Petry--those are long-shots to be impact players and are years away from being NHLers at any event.

Guys like Visnovsky and Souray have decent trade value and can be moved/will moved for younger assets.

Grebeshkov, Gilbert, O'Sullivan, Nilsson, Cogliano are all moveable if the management chooses to trade them.

Moreau and Staios, whether they get traded or not, are coming off the books after next year.

The only problem contracts going forward are Horcoff and Habibulin, but with the team going young, cap space won't be an issue for a while and you need a couple of veterans in there.

The key will be moving out the guys I have mentioned (in the next 18 months) and adding elite talent (will have to happen through the draft).

If Tambellini plays his cards right, the team should be able to challenge for the play-offs in 2011-2012.
