In no order.

Rypien
Boogard
Orr
Emery
Laraque

This time next season, I think Carkner will have found his way onto many people's lists.

Rypien being on a top 10 list is laughable, let alone a top 5. Huge fan, but he's not a top 10 fighter.

Yeah he just fights out of his weight class and wins, but no he doesnt deserve recognition. Its like saying GSP isnt top 10 fighter because hes not a heavyweight

Chris Neil is pretty good, same with Carkner.

Not going to make a list because I don't know enough about other fighters.

I do know that Orr and Carkner belong in the top 10 , and maybe even the top 5

Why not? Many would argue he is the top P4P fighter int he NHL.

That's a terrible comparison.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve recognition in general, I'm just saying he's clearly not top 10. Yeah it's impressive seeing him fight out of his weight class, but how many top-10 guys has he fought this year? None. If it was P4P, he'd definitely be top-10 and top-5. But it's not.

Because the thread isn't asking for the top 10 P4P.

Any list without Laraque is an automatic fail.

This argument... again.....

The differnce is that there are no weight classes in the NHL. The role of the fighter in the NHL is to be an enforcer and take on the other team's top guys. Unless you can consistently take on the 260+lbs guys you are not considered a great fighter in the NHL.

Rypien may run train on the medium sized guys but unless he is stopping the Boogards, Goddards, and McGrattons from attacking the stars he is not in a fighter's role.

Rypien is a great energy guy, but not on the NHLs best fighters.

Ok.... who do you consider top 10? anyone who doesnt play in the west?
he fought hal gil, prust x3, stortini x2, brad may, cody mcleod, ben eager, boris valabik, and janssen. Where he lost 1 to prust. But you go ahead and name your top 10.

hard to say because there are many star players that are very good fighters that rarely fight and for good reason.

Iginla, Jovanovski, and Chara to name a few.

John Scott deserves some consideration. He's just as tall as Boogey and I believe has won every fight he's been in so far.

I was watching the hi-lites of the Minny/Chicago game (I believe it was that)...Boogaard was in the box with a previous fight, and John Scott was fighting someone, and even he (Scott) is crazy big..

Minny's got some big scary men..

I know your post is a joke, but Afinogenov actually has a massive temper and he has fought before, and held his own. ****kicked Justin Williams a year or two ago.

Boulton may not be the best, but his fights are always long and entertaining

Really?
Didn't know that, so thanks for enlightening me!
(Although I was aware of that he's energetic.)
