Braden Holtby?

From looking at his stats in the AHL the look very promising.

Would this kid be a top goalie prospect if he were on a team other then Washington where he falls behind Varlamov and Neuvirth?

Yes, in many other teams he would be a top prospect. His AHL games were outstanding but Neuvirth and Varkamov are clearly ahead of him. But again, this brings the Caps in a good position of making a deal somewhere down the road. Trading from a position of strenght

Watched him for the Blades for a few seasons. Good goalie. Quick feet and athletic. Surprised when the Caps took him, but with their depth at the position he has plenty of time to develop. Could turn out to be a number one, but i doubt it. Likely a backup at the NHL level, or someone who can start 30 or 40 games if need be.

Just cause he is on the Caps doesn't mean he still isn't a top prospect, he is and I believe he is in there long term plans. i think Nev is the odd man out.

Honestly he's looked better to start his rookie season this year than Neuvirth or Varlamov did last year, at least fundamentally. We'll see how he does in the playoffs, if he gets a chance.

It helps that he plays on the AHL's best team, but then again they don't exactly play a stifling defensive system either.
