PreGame Quotes
Tocchet:
Quote:
"We need a playoff push, and pushes to me mean going to the net, having a third man high and don't pinch in at the wrong time," Tocchet said.

"Those are things that are hard to do because it's repetitive. You could go to the net four or five times in the first couple of periods and not catch a sniff, maybe get knocked around a bit and say, 'Forget it, I'll go the other way.' Then, in the third period, the puck ends up there and you're not there."
Quote:
"Steve Downie deserves to play more," Tocchet said. "He's been one of our better players the last two, three weeks. He's playing with an attitude that I want. He deserves to play, and I want to get him up there."

LETS GO BOLTS

How about some ****ing consistency? How about winning more than two games in a row for once?

Lets just start with 1 tonight then worry about 2. Losing to the cats twice really sucks. But losing to the canes is a whole different pile. We had better win tonight.

Any word on if Tokarski is getting the start?

Nitty will start.

Quote:
Tocchet praised rookie G Dustin Tokarski, who made five saves in the third period Saturday night (his NHL debut). But G Antero Niittymaki will start in net Monday against Carolina. "Nitty deserves to play again," Tocchet said. "He had a tough night, so let's see how he responds."

Why do I have the feeling that the loss at home to the Kitties was the start of another 10+ game losing streak?

D Matt Smaby (concussion) will return to the lineup tonight against the Hurricanes after missing three games.

Smaby said he’s got his legs back after having to take some days off, and coach Rick Tocchet hopes he can give a spark. Tocchet said D Matt Walker will be out of the lineup to make room for Smaby.
Quote:
Doesn't sound like there will be any other lineup changes, though RW Todd Fedoruk (lower body injury) said he's ready to return.

**** it, put in Fridge and pair him with Z and Downs and play them 1st line minutes. It'd atleast be an entertaining game.

While I don't disagree, we can't still be taking babysteps more then halfway through the season if we want a shot at post-season action. We need a winning streak now before we fall too fast out of the race. Realistically, using this season and the last two as a precedent, this isn't the year of the return to the playoffs. I really hope I'm wrong though.

Its not what you think, its just that Malone has played exceptionally well with them (he seems to play well no matter what line hes on) and his play (the big guy, very physical) fits that line well since Sz is too small and Bochenski is more of a finisher.

All I ask for is effort and I'm seeing that for the most part tonight. I'm pleased we didn't come out completely flat again. Message- aim low kids, that way, you'll never fail.
