I'm glad you think I'm a "joke" - Maybe I'll just keep the info I do get to my little buddies here on LGK via PM instead of sharing with the masses here and on HockeyBuzz.

I mean, why set myself up for people like you to criticize? Why do I need that in my life?

But the TRUTH of the matter is, Briere is NOT happy in Philadelphia and he gave the Flyers 3 teams he would be traded to - one of them was the Kings - Briere wants out badly - For reasons... I'm not going to tell you or anyone else on LGK or HB.

Players want out all the time for different reasons. Pronger in Edmonton. Heater in Ottawa. Kovalchuk in Atlanta (I mean they offered him 10 million a year! - How many other teams can afford THAT?)

I don't get a lot of the rumors right... but neither does anyone else... that's why they're RUMORS. Sometimes I get inside information which I do report and once got me into hot water with Helene Elliott (another story I have yet to share with all of you). I also got info way before Hammond, which I also reported... and he's paid by the Kings. I'm not. He's THERE. I'm not.

I played "real reporter" this past season and it was a blast but I felt restricted in what I wanted to write and say. I'd rather be me. Obnoxious, sometimes funny, combative, but most importantly... entertaining.

So if you DON'T find me entertaining... don't read. Don't reply. If I'm such a "joke", why respond?

Briere is a Flyer....Dean might be interested.

Funny, Briere seems to be playing his heart out for a team he wants to escape from... and just because Briere wants to be here doesn't mean Lombardi would be interested in paying a 32 year old forward an average of $6.5M per year until 2015, when he'll be be 37.

Not that i want Briere here in L.A. so just for the fact.
Does anyone know the cba good enough to know when a players is qualified to
extend a contract ????

Just for this case and just for fun........
Briere comes here and signs a new contract with lombardi
does it count into the same salary ????
What i mean is to lower his cap with giving him 4 more years with 700k or something.
Would that be possible ????

He can't sign an extension until he is entering the final year of his contract. So no, it wouldn't be possible. The CBA also restricts teams and players from renegotiating contracts.

What a whiny informant. Sounds more like a kid stamping his feet because no one is interested in whatever sliver of information he believes he has holding over everyone's heads. I congratulate him on becoming a new father, but so far have been vastly unimpressed with him as any kind of "reporter".

I just said that he might be interested because Dean has a thing for ex/Flyer players. I get what you're saying though.

I would rather he keep his information and his tantrums over on the letsgokings sight and he is also better when he posts under his other handle dancingboy but that is just an opinion. I haven't gone to that sight in years as I think its pretty much a joke but to each their own.

They may not get him, no one other than Ilya and the Kings knows if they certainly won't or certainly will. I don't believe for a second that any source within the Kings has declared giving up on him.

Same image came to mind. Guy should keep his "information" to himself. What a joke. I'd even be willing to argue/bet that Danny B is a Flyer for a long time.

I've always liked Briere, since he was with Phoenix. He is a gamer and if we strike out on Kovy and Marleau, and providing we didn't give up too much, I would be pretty happy with him as a consolation prize.

If we are going to give up something in a trade I would much rather give up slightly more and inquire about guys like Sharp and Roy. Briere is a gamer, but at his age he doesn't "fit" with this team.

At least it is official now, we can all move on with our lives. No Kovalchuk in LA.

Briere has been phenomenal in the playoffs but he had 53 points in 75 regular season games, essentially Dustin Brown numbers, while being on one of the highest scoring teams in the league. He'll be 33 later this year and is signed for five more seasons with a $6.5M cap hit.

It's just not very appealing at all, playoff warrior or not, to be paying that kind of money to a player until he is in his late 30's. Let's not pick up another declining player with a huge paycheck.

If we're going after a player via trade, MSL is the guy I'd want.

Title: Kings officially turning away from Kovalchuk.
Quote:
From various sources.

It was long believed that the Kovalchuk sweeps began and ended in Los Angeles. There was a strong belief among almost everyone I talked to since about mid-January said Ilya wanted to be a King and the Kings wanted him.

It was even believed among sources that the LA Kings pulling out of the Ilya deadline sweeps was predicated on the belief they could get Kovalchuk for free this summer.

well now, as we sit here only a little more then 3 weeks from July 1, I am hearing it is not happening....

A week ago I was also hearing Ilya's options were getting very thin. Yesterday however, a source told me "there now are more options for Kovalchuk than I ever imagined there would be."

I believe he can play either side.

I just love his versatility, and the fact that he hasn't missed a game since 2005. Dude is a gamer.

I think you'll know who is going after AK at the draft. Some of the cap strapped teams will try to dump salary to make room to bid on Kovalchuk. I fully expect the Rangers and the Leafs to get in on the bidding war somehow, they always have in the past. At this point in time I don't see how you can rule out any team, I assume everybody will try to sign him based on his age and skillset. He's probably the best free agent of the new CBA era. And if you're the Kings you tell everybody you don't want him to possibly keep his price down/make Kovalchuk WANT to play in LA.
