Last night...with some help from our friends, the Devils, Rangers fail to get any points. Carolina did manage a point (yes, we need to keep an eye on them now).

Tonight:

TB @ TOR
BOS @ PHI
PIT @ CAR
EDM @ MTL
FLA @ COL

TB, Phil, and Mon 3 guaranteed wins tonight.

I'm rooting for the Devils too lose as much as possible.

Do we really need this thread anymore. I mean isn't it kind of masochistic to continue with it?

I'm all for deleting it.

I'm all for tanking now. Tanking and stat padding.

I wont root for them to lose. But if they lose, i wont care.

Florida beat SJ... they are tied with us in points. We are almost back into the lottery.

If Car wins i think we drop into the lottery

LOL Islanders won and got 2 more points. They are 3 points behind us now.

In the matter of a week, we go from 8th place to a point out from being in the lottery.

Tonight the Sens and Habs play. Both on 79 points over 72 games played. I guess we just need to see a regulation result. Anyone have any preference as to which team should get the win?

According to this:

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/E...Thrashers.html

we're better off if the Habs win... no idea why in this case though.

We can all agree OT would suck.

Thanks for the link. Interesting to note that if we win out the rest of the way we have a 4% chance of finishing 4th! Home ice for the first round!

ottawa is in free fall so any points they don't get is good for us. if there is a team we can catch it's them.

Sounds as if Jeff Carter fractured his foot blocking a shot last night.

When you add in their goalie woes on top of having to play Coburn their run in just got that much more difficult

Still got to take it one [1] game at a time. If we happen to finish higher than 8th, let it be.

I'll watch the Habs/Sens tonight and enjoy it.

The only game on Monday night that affects these standings is between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators. According to Sports Club Stats, a Canadiens' win would bolster the playoff probabilities of nearly every team behind them, but a Senators win would decrease them.
Go Habs Go. We are favored if Habs win because strength of schedule?

No way! THis thread is the opposite end of the spectrum from TANK threads! This is what sports fans live for (not Atlantasportsfan, tho maybe). It's great to chart out all the possibilities.

Like McDonalds.... I'm loving it!

Ottawa gets Fischer back.
Philly could lose every one of their games. That late goal last night had to be painful. They weren't a very good team anyways, Laviolette ran his magic but now he lost Carter (the same Jeff Carter that they wouldn't trade for Vokoun, lol.).

HEY PHILLY....YOU GET......NOTHING!

That or because of tie breaker in team against team

Ottawa winning is a blessing is disguise. I do not agree with that site that said we needed Montreal to win.

We need Ottawa to beat Philly tomorrow too.

Think about it, 3 teams with 79 points. Ottawa beats Montreal, 2 teams with 79 points 1 team with 81 points. Ottawa beats Philly, 2 teams with 79 points, 1 team with 83 points.

If we beat Boston, we would have 77 points, surpassing Boston and 2 within Mon, and Phil. And I think a game in hand on Mon.

I totally agree! O my gawd! Now we need Otterwaaah to thump the Flyers tomorrow night and it really could get interesting down the stretch.

I think that website wants us to want the Flyers to win.

No way. I absolutely disagree with that website 100%.

Tonight we want the Senators to win.

Seems like sound enough logic to me, the playoff odds site was ranking Ottawa as a weaker team because of its goal differential I think, but I don't really see them being any better or worse than Montreal/Philly.

Buffalo with 2 goals in the last 3 minutes to tie the Habs. Now on the PP in OT.

Sabres win in OT.

Rags beat up the Islanders 5-0

Everybody that matters except the Sens going tonight...

Tampa @ Boston
Rangers @ Devils
Minnesota @ Philly
Toronto @ Atlanta
Florida @ Montreal

Need some help from our southeast brethren tonight. Also like to get some assistance from former Thrasher greats Kovalchuk and Brunette if I may be so bold.

Naturally the most important thing is for that Atlanta team to get back on track with a win
