I agree that Pouliot getting injured is quite frustrating, given the number of games already lost to injury(to Pouliot and the rest of the team).

If anyone needs to be blamed (and I use the term loosely), it's Pouliot himself. Everyone knew his hand/wrist was injured and getting into a brawl, his first no less, is not the smartest thing to do.

I understand that he was sticking up for himself and his teammates, but sometimes you've got to walk away to fight another day.

Overall, dumb move by Pouliot, though I love to see this side of his game.

Hopefully he'll be back soon.

It will probably help us win more, the team seems to play better with 3-4 guys out than they have the last few weeks. With a mostly healthy lineup they crapped the bed vs Ottawa and NYR.

Why did Gorges and Pouliot had to fight anyway ...
Maybe if Big Goerges would have done is job we'd still have Pouliot to score.
When Avery faught Gorges the game shifted.

it's too late to tank and it's not like the team would do it. The problem is Bob got pieces to "win now" when he should have dumped everyone and start over with the young guys. It's poor planning. He didn't want to do it 5 yrs ago and now we're back at square 1.

Not to be a broken record about Marc Antoine Godin's twitter, but according to the latest update:

For those who wondered, Benoit Pouliot is on the ice skating with his teammates this morning. So no injury. 7 minutes ago from web

Remember last year when Komisarek had to fight while Laraque didn't against Boston? It literaly changed his career.

Laraque is more than useless. That team needs a Chris Neil type of forward.

Yep, but Martin sent him on the ice the shift right after. Maybe he should have told him why he was sending him out there. True that after that he didn't get any ice time, and he's probably wondering why.

Good news that Pouliot is at practice.

When Avery faught Gorges the game shifted.

Pouliot mentioned to M.-A. Godin (http://twitter.com/MAGodin) that "… Guys on the bench told me they'd come after me for sure …".

So Pouliot and everyone on the Canadiens' bench knew that NYR intended to "go after" one of our best players, a guy who just recovered from a wrist injury that took longer than anticipated to heal, and Martin decided NOT to give more ice-time to Laraque?

Because let's be honest here: I won't defend Laraque overall "achievement" (he must work harder… and dirtier) but he can't do much while sitting on the bench:

TOI shifts report (vs NYR); Laraque

1 1 3:30 / 16:30 4:17 / 15:43 00:47
2 1 7:19 / 12:41 8:14 / 11:46 00:55
3 2 3:31 / 16:29 4:26 / 15:34 00:55
4 2 11:48 / 8:12 12:17 / 7:43 00:29
5 3 16:40 / 3:20 16:52 / 3:08 00:12

Ref.: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...0/TV020721.HTM

Total TOI: 3:18

Against the NYR, in a lost cause, I wish Laraque had more ice-time (one 12 seconds shift in the 3rd!?!); the guy did raise his game a notch lately. Bad decision by Martin imo.

Plus… Laraque is not the only "decent size" player on this team: guys like Mara, Gill, Pacioretty, Lapierre and especially Moen, badly need a testosterone injection!

D'Agostini out!
Conboy or White in!

PS Pouliot at the practise is great news indeed!

This is really frustrating. The mentality of this 'team' needs to change. If it wasn't for Pouliot we wouldnt even be in the playoff race. Same for Plekanec, and Markov is our best player. Jorges is also important. NYR went after ALL FOUR of them and meanwhile, Mara, Gill, Laraque AND Moen can't do anything ? Are you kidding me?

Why did we bring this freakin soft coach who coached a stacked Senators coach to mediocrity? Gainey was known for his physical play and we're stuck with a bunch of gutless players year after year. Our top 6, with Andrei, is allright, but I hate our Bottom 6. No grit, not good defensively and can't bring anything offensively, they are plugs.

If that happens, I'm cheering for the Leafs.

Seriously what the **** has Plekanec done to play with a guy that cant score and an AHLer? I love both, but ffs give Plek something to play with.

LOL, YOU can consider tanking all you want.

Do you really think that the Habs players would ever consider this???

These are professional athletes with professional egos, making millions of dollars a year. I would say there isn't one of them who would consider being part of tanking.

But YOU can continue to consider it!

NOT that I think it'll happen but it takes only one person to decide to tank the season: Bob Gainey.

He trades away Laraque, Metro, Gomez & Gionta for draft picks. Unloads Beregeon, Mara & Gill for whatever he can get.

Brings up a third of the Bulldogs team and voila! The season is in the tank.
