Dreger: "Expect Big Changes".

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=306822

Quote:
The Edmonton Oilers will do what's right for the organization.

The Oil will do what's right for the fans.

Edmonton will do nothing at all.

Nothing, to help turn this teams unpredictably horrendous season around.

There will be trades, mostly to change the culture of the team, which means veteran players beware...your time in Edmonton may soon be over.

This isn't another run at the endless speculation that has followed with the Oilers continued disappointment.

There will be changes.

Trade is the most 'friendly' way, but it is possible Edmonton will take a far more aggressive approach and bury players in the minors, or wait until the end of the season and buy out contracts, if necessary.

Coming from Dreger, I put a little stock in to this.

The only thing I expect from the Oilers in more managerial incompetence

We've seen it before, we've also heard it before. I'll believe it when I see it.

To be honest though, he's just stating what this fan base has known for a while. The leadership core stinks. The heart, the grit, the leadership is gone. Replaced with.....nothing.

While we can hope for changes, we can't force other teams to take on our bad contracts.

Please dear god, change the leadership on this team Tambo. Its pathetic how we downgraded on effort, grit and heart from the cup run a few years back.

I guess dreger missed the memo where souray's ntc ends this year.

I ask you this if a team says we have a trade to buffalo either take it now or in the summer we trade you there or somewhere worse, would you not take it?

At least he gets out of here and has a shot on a pretty good team for the playoffs.

I guess you missed the memo that says that Souray is willing to be moved.

Yeah but unlike most of us. Dreger actually has some contacts and likely knows there are things brewing. That is unless I mis-understand and he just thinks that stuff might happen. His wording seems to suggest otherwise.

I would be surprised if there were big changes. Nobody is taking our stupid contracts, which accounts for half the team. I would love to see John Short do a regular guest spot with Gregor though, he was a breath of fresh air yesterday and is free to speak his mind as he has no ties to the organization.

The memo was closer to his kids not to the other end of the country.

This is my interpretation as well. I don't see the need to dump on the man.

We all want something to happen, with each passing loss, I'm sure we're all rubbing our hands together and saying "this could be it!". But alas, it is not, at least yet.
Until "it" happens, I think we are all sick of hearing about how "it" is coming.

Throw us a bone fer christ sake

Is there a limit on how many one way contracts we can send down? I have some names in mind.... Buyout depending on who it is would be a really good idea.
