Ovechkin.

Almost nobody have seen him play on a regular basis but they act like he's the next Messiah. Just wait and see.

Then how can you say he is over hyped then ? What if is what is advertised ? If that is true he is not over hyped >>

There is ONE stickied Crosby thread, other than that you hear nothing of him here. Nothing on any of the others almost. AO seems to enter every thread seemingly even down to threads about the price of popcorn . . . 'ie, when AO comes over the cost of popcorn will naturally increase in washington as more people will be watching hockey nationwide.'

AO hands down . . . *chuckles* . . .and I need to stop before I sound like the official AO anti-spokesman . . . to be honest I truly believe that he will be good, but over-hyped? . . . after seeing him in almost every post here, how can anyone argue otherwise?

It's going to be worse next year with Crosby.

I'm not voting on this poll, but if I were I'd choose Crosby. Ovechkin didn't have multiple threads about him at 16 years old. Attribute that to location. Crosby gets more hype because he is from Canada, so many of our posters have more exposure to him.

Hype means you're talented. But there is a very large amount of hype about Ovechkin and Crosby, both of whome, not coincidentally, are very large talents.

Moot point as far as I'm concerned.

Crosby. At least Ovechkin has proven himself somewhat in a prestigious tournament, breaking Kovalchuk's record for scoring in the Under-18 tournament and leading several other tournaments in scoring. I agree that Ovechkin is overhyped, but at least there is SOME basis for a portion of that hype. Crosby has yet to prove himself at a prestigious tournament, therefore Crosby is MUCH more hype and less proof than Ovechkin is. CROSBY.

Anyone who says Ovechkin must not have been around last year, when the hype on him was 10X what it is today.

Right now it's Crosby by a longshot. Last year it was Ovechkin. Next year, some of the shine will wear off Crosby, and many will move on to salivating over Alexander Vasyunov and Phil Kessel. So goes the nature of this site, and the Prospects Board in particular.

Good point. I guess the best answer would be [insert the next one here].

The Under 18 tournament is not the NHL. Not by a long shot.

Of course Forsberg is my favorite player, but that doesn't mean he's the only player I like. I like loads of players.
