At least, if you believe the Olympics selection is somewhat more relevant than your analysis.
I know you are a friend, but with all posturing aside, Jack has a long way to go before he can be placed in the same category as Rob Scuderi. The Piece is our shut down guy. He's not flashy, nor overly physical, but he gets the job done. While jack has far more offensive upside and much higher potential, right now Jack i snot so good in the defensive zone. And I dont need to rely on his +/- alone to get that, I've watched the vast majority of his games since he's been with the Kings. Yes he's getting better, but I'll take /Scuds or Greener to keep the puck out of our net every time.

AS for his Olympic selection, the game is different in the Olympics and the competition is faster, so jack's speed is more of a factor. That said, its dfairly easy to go back and watch games and find bad pinches and/or misreads in almost every game

Dont get me wrong, for hius age I think he's doing just fine, but he ain't ALL THAT yet!

You really can't. Doughty is miles ahead of him. Johnson edges out Harrold/O'Donnell. Maybe.

Johnson has more upside than Greene and Scuderi, but both those guys have proven to be more realiable DEFENSIVELY at the NHL level right now....bottom line.

By the way, what happened to Johnson's mean streak...he fought Carcillo in his first few games and hasn't had a major in almost 2 years? All that working out for nothing....Remember Joe Corvo, dude looked like a Marvel Superhero without his shirt, but was soft when it came to fighting and hitting.

Jack had three scraps last season (against Zidlicky, Gagner and Penner) and had one fight during the preseason this year. He doesn't have to fight, but you can bet that he'd be the first man in to defend a teammate.

I guess I was wrong, he did have a few fights....but like Tonga is saying, he has been very passive in the scrums whereas even Scuderi, who never fights, was in there pushing....Same with Drewiske....We all know OD and Greene are in there...Johnson is big and in shape now...I thought he would be more aggressive or meaner.

Johnson doesn't have an identity yet boys.

You see him on some of the breakouts, he wants to skate, he wants to attack, go end to end. He looks like a caged tiger. I surmise that If he can learn to focus less on what he wants and more on what his team needs from him, his defensive game would improve exponentially and the offense would come naturally.

Just MHO.

I still think we are best getting something for him while the wool is still pulled over the eyes of the rest of the NHL.

I think we are looking at Darryl Sydor 2.

Why is no one remembering that Lombardi is also on the U.S. Olympic selection committee?

Where was John MF Zeiler?

Those boards would've been totally beaten up.

//I will admit that I still think that Zeiler played his role as a energy guy well in the past (NHL stint). But it's easy to make him a whipping boy since he's not the most talented I guess.

btw: What's the difference between the words "admit" and "confess"?

well if one were to believe Lombardi, they basically have to recuse themselves when it comes to selecting one of their guys.

Maybe DL wanted Jack selected to showcase him on the national stage for a trade?

Your dislike for Johnson is comical. Every time you get a chance to bash him, you do.

I am the Ying to the Johnson nutswingers Yang... there must be balance in the universe.

The difference is mine is based upon fact. The other side, not so much.

Glad I could entertain you.

That's simple matey, confess is so much easier to rhyme with kool words for song writing and poetry. Where as admit is much more limiting! Can't you come up with hard questions? LOL

Or perhaps a willingness to look past the surface in an effort to see real issues that lie beneath.
