Odd man Out?

Someone feel free to make this a poll but who is the odd man out with all of these forward depth signings?

Options are:

Sean Avery
Todd White
Erik Christensen
Mats Zuccarello Aasen
Tim Kennedy
Chris Drury
Brian Boyle

You decide.

Exdit-removed Dubinsky and Callahan

Hopefully Drury and Avery, but all know Drury is staying.

tough call to make as I dont know much about White or Kennedy...but i'll say that (if they're on the roster) the bolded players will spend time as healthy scratches at some point

Its good to have the depth, if you want to call it that.

All the bolded players have similar skill levels.

Callahan and Dubinsky are not going anywhere. It's absurd to include them in this list (via trade)

Bizzare ineptitude.

well actually MZA has the promise of a pretty high skill set if he can make the adjustment to the NHL. Much higher than the other bolded guys.

White has exp. but might be past it. EC is top six or bust.

I'm intrigued by TK but i don't see top six in him yet, and with Avery he either plays like he did when first came here or bye bye.

it really is an interesting situation.

White is going to be very difficult to keep in the big leagues with his salary, I think he will be the first sent down.

Personally, I cant vouch for that until he plays at this level. But its probably a correct statement.

well sure, neither can I. If he makes the adjustment successfully we might have a legit top six addition, which would make me very happy.

I like this TK kid, i wish he wasn't so small though. We just have so much 3rd line talent for any but MZA to stand out.

i really wish we didn't have a "wait and see" for our #1 center.

I think the odd man out will be White. injuries will hamper top line effectiveness imo.

Sean Avery
Todd White
Erik Christensen
Mats Zuccarello Aasen
Tim Kennedy

Chris Drury

well first off take callahan and dubinsky off the list because they arent going anywhere..Now the list looks like this.

Brian Boyle
Sean Avery
Todd White
Erik Christensen
Mats Zuccarello Aasen
Tim Kennedy
Chris Drury

Drury isnt going anywhere so why trade him, hell be gone in two seasons and well have our 7m back for the cap. Mza is staying and was probably promised a chance on the top 2 lines. Hes a very talented player and i think hell stick. EC will be given a chance to shine, otherwise hell be gone. Avery needs to get back to playing the way he did otherwise hell be gone too. Whites contract is to much to have as a 3rd or 4th line center along with drury, and tim kennedy i believe should be playing 4th line minutes over boyle.

just think for one minute...

If, I'm saying IF Boyle can just add physicality to his game. I'm sure the coaching staff sees the need. If he can play more aggressively and learn to incorporate his massive frame and power...

We would have a true beast for 3rd, maybe future 2nd line PF center.

boy could we use this turn of events.

Very wishful thinking, but I'm with you. I'm not ready to give up on Boyle.

White will either have chemistry with Frolov and Gaborik, or be cut imo. If he stays, Christiensen goes.

Boyle seriously isn't on this list?

It's between White, Kennedy, and Boyle.

The other guys who won't make the team are our prospects.

i completly agree he should be on the list. He should be the first to go, hes a waste of a roster spot and a good 3rd round pick. Hes a monster in size but plays like a *****. He needs to remove his tampon and play the game. No way will he ever a 2nd line center. Hes barely a 4th line center as is. if he added a physical presence to his game i see him at most a 3rd line center. We need to trade some of these players like White, Boyle, Eminger and gilroy with some picks or decent prospects to get a substantial center or picks. Eminger and Gilroy are wasting a little over 3m in salary and if we got rid of all 5 of these players well have about 6m in salary back.

sorry was talkin bout boyle on the list there.. no way should prust be on it right now, lets see how he plays. Give kennedy a chance at 4th line center between prust and boogard, trade white, eminger, boyle, and gilroy for something.

Take Callahan, Dubinsky, MZA, and Drury (contract and might as well let it run out and gain 7m in cap) off the list. Avery id say depends on how he plays.

Most likely....Todd White....but I'm still hoping Captain Crutch Clutch and his bag of pucks intangibles has value to someone else.

Options should be:

Brian Boyle
Sean Avery
Todd White
Erik Christensen
Brandon Prust
Tim Kennedy

I think Christensen is a favorite to make the roster. Prust has to be considered an insider too but he and Avery are too much the same player. I liked what I saw of Kennedy last year in BUF but I can't realistically see him making the team out of training camp.

All I know is Avery better bring it!

The ideal situation for all concerned is probably to put White on LTI to clear one spot and relieve a bit of the glut. According to quotes from practice yesterday (Zipay's blog I think), he's still not cleared for contact. By the time he comes back, a fair amount of hockey will have been played and it's likely that the players will have sorted a lot of it out themselves with their performances.

Of course, even that solution still leaves at least one other forward going down/traded - more if a rookie impresses and/or they don't keep an extra in the pressbox.

Assuming Staal signs, the situation is equally crowded on D. Training camp will be interesting... I just hope this doesn't get decided by injuries - that's in nobody's best interest.

Before everyone starts bashing Duby and Cally choices, it's because its the odd man out in THE TOP 9!!!! Boyle is not a top 9 player all the others are. Wew have too many talented guys that are stockpiled here and may not get a chanc

first off dubinsky and cally are in our top 9 no matter what!

Dubinsky Prospal Gaborik
Frolov Anisimov MZA
Callahan Drury Avery
Boogie Kennedy Prust

EC is an extra forward.. honestly a trade better be comming to unload players like Eminger Gilroy Boyle and whoever is left. EC, Kennedy, valentenko, and mcdonagh should all make the team.
