If you think he's a joke, why do you advertise for him?

I was trying to make a joke that it's funny how Eklund can post something stupid like this.

If Eklund is right, I will eat my hat.

No possible way Ilya comes to Toronto.

So Burke will wait until the summer to see if he gets Kovalchuk, before deciding if he needs to move Kaberle. If Ilya becaomes a Leaf (yeah, right. lol), then perhaps there would be no reason to trade Kaberle? Sign Kabby to an extension and watch these two (along with Kessel), light it up.

I watched a Kovalchuk interview TODAY where he said he doesn't like being the poster boy, being on the front of magazines, etc. He loves atlanta because he values his private life.

Right after that he said (and I paraphrase) " Although, Hockey is a business, so I'll see what happens"

Well with the exception of no one caring about Hockey in Atlanta, isn't he already the poster boy for them? I mean everyone says if he is traded it's basically the end of their team and last night they only got around 10,000 people, so who else can they use to market that team? So doesn't he realize he is their poster boy?

Sounds like his source could be Bill Watters... Just get a feeling.

If it is, then nothing will likely happen. While I like Bill, he usually likes to blab about stuff without merit.

As in he doesn't want to have a Lebron James/Tiger Woods level of fame. Sure he's the go to guy in Atlanta, but like you said, very few people care down there in Atlanta, so it's not really a big deal. Imagine a star of his calibre being here in Toronto? It would be hell

I think the article was refering to getting him via free agency. I want to know who his sources are. hahahaha

That's what I thought too, until I read this part again:

The fact that there are no Leafs on Team Canada, while there are two Leafs (Kessel and Komisarek) on Team USA, as well as Brian and Ron...Brian knows the Leafs need to make the splash going into these games.. They will get him. I would almost call it a given"

I thought this was the funniest part of the article, when Eklund quotes his make believe source as say: "Kessel is a great player, but he is an American...The Leafs have never done that and Kessel is good to great, but not enough. The Leafs do have a history of Europeans and Russians being big players for them..but it is different for Americans."

So apparently this well connected and trusted source believes that because the Leafs don't have a history of Americans being their star players, that somehow will prevent Kessel from developing.

After a long day at work, this was a nice laugh to come home to.
