The way to stop the "Patrice Cormiers" of the world is....
......to get the police involved and press criminal charges against him. Giving long junior suspensions doesn't work.......it hasn't yet. If we continue to punish.....by only handing out long, junior suspensions.......it will only be a matter of time...... before a player kills another player. Some of these highly publicized hits...this year....have resulted in some very, very lucky and fortunate recoveries. These recent attacks hovered on a very thin line ...from making a recovery....to major dibilitating injuries and/or death. I'm talking about Finelli(spelling?) from the Kitchener Rangers, the kid from the Barrie Colts(Kassian incident)...and now the Cormier attack.
One solution is to do something about the bad hockey parents, that teach their kid at a young age to do whatever it takes to be #1. Do whatever it takes as long as it is within the rules.
Why not just change the equipment rule, change the elbow pads, shoulder pads, instead of hard shell plastic give them regular material shoulder pads, you don't think when somebody throws an elbow, they will definetly feel it and they will never do it again, its EASIER, and Players now a days they are well protected, they don't feel the damage they do to other so they keep doing it!..
do you really think both of Roy's son, learned from their mistakes????, and your right with the parent part, like father like son, when roy won the winning record thing he beat up his wife, so the children see what their father do, and they think its all right, it's a BIG thing but people have to figure out what needs to be done to prevent this kinda Crap from happening again!, and it starts with the parents, the equipment and training for the players to know how to hit the right way, but the clean way!!!
