Being one of the biggest guys in the game and not defending your team mates is the definition of cowardice.

He knew damn well his role wasn't some staged fight every 5 games, he wasn't helping the team and he should be ashamed.

Maybe BGL could've tried doing his job. Now he still has the balls to complain when he's being paid big bucks for doing nothing.

If anything, the only link I can find with Haiti, is that it's sad that a lowclass ****** like him gets paid while people in need could use that money.
Especially since Gainey offered him yesterday to give him a special holiday to go down there to help his relatives.

Useless and now classless... but certainly not cash-less !

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I can't and won't call BGL a coward since he's simply not.

I do agree that he was not doing his job but not for the same reasons.

Because buying him out now WOULD have been a PR disaster. Yes, it sucks that we're handcuffed and can't add a player but after Haiti there was no other option. His NMC stated he couldn't be waived and attempts to trade him failed.

Wow, sad day for me. I hope that Gainey is smart enough to get someone else or else we'll just fall in the same hole as we did 2 years ago.

Gainey in the press conference

Beating down the Georges code and says he's here for his teammates, and wasn't being productive enough in that aspect.

Take that you rich ******.

that, and you can't buy out a player in the middle of the season.

i would have thought the thread title would have been more enthusiastic about the news. something to the effect of: "THERE IS A GOD" or something like this.

HF is running the habs.

how is that in a hole when we finished 1st in the conference?!

We started digging our own hole when we started to believe we were a physical team. We are not. We're built around quickness and skills.

Our loss the the Flyers was on Price < Biron. Not team toughness.

good news. Since Haiti is in such a bad condition he should probably take his millions and go help them out instead of whining to the press.

This is about Bob standing by his coach. Just like sending Kovy home last year it is a brave move and sends an important message.

I think it will be a turning point in the season.

If he had just beaten on Lucic instead of faxing him invitations to negotiate a fight, we'd still have Komisarek on this team. I guess it'd be too to have Komisarek (?)....

About time.

Carebear Georges Laraque was a disaster from the start. Last year playoffs were an embarrassment.

I hope the fans at the Bell center won't be too sad, he was praised like a fraking 50 goals scorer.

Laraque should be happy!

1. He will get paid 1 Million for doing nothing, plus this years 1.5 M salary. I would take that any day.

2. Now he can concentrate fully and retire in the early 30s, on his charities and businesses. Maybe a trip to Haiti would be beneficial.

When was the last time you heard of Freedom 32?

3. He can take some time off, get ready over the summer, and sign with another team and make habs regret it everytime they play against them.

Ya, I love Gainey talking about George's code....it's not about his (George) code, it's about our (the habs) code.

Can we pleas stop referencing Haiti when speaking about Laraque? You guys are trivializing what is a disaster by trying to link it to a player getting released from his NHL team.

I know it's not intentional, but jeez...some people are closely affected by what happened there. Show a bit of class

Getting pushed around and winning like that has never and will never happen again. When the going got tuff we looked like a bunch of little girls in a goon league, the series againts the Flyers was embarrassing to watch and the same goes for every team that hit us and intimidated us.

Some of you are happy that he's gone? Chris Niel and Colton Orr have spent the last 2 years masturbating off playing the Habs with no Laraque in the line-up, now watch them do whatever the heck they want, just like in the past.

I'm too lazy to read 300 posts but did we try trade him at all? Why not waive him to give other teams a free chance at him? Or even recall him, surely at 750k, someone might be interested?

I'm glad he's gone but I kinda agree with him that it looks classless.
