He can't go on waivers, can't be bought out during the season and no team would trade for him. Options? Nadda and Laraque took advantage. THAT is classless.

Well as long as no Canadien initiates a fight there won't be a problem as Laraque won't fight unless he's provoked. So as long as our players tell him "no, I don't want to fight you" there won't be a problem. Then we can skate around him in the offensive zone and score. Problem solved

As for Laraque's comments about Gainey being "classless" he could have easily burried his contract in Hamilton and humiliated him. Instead he's earnign $1.5MM sitting on his ass eating raw veggies. If that's a classless act, I WISH I had a boss like Gainey. OMG do I wish I had a boss like Bob! He could be classless to me all day long while I ate my celerey sticks and made energy drink commercials.

Good remarks by Gainey;

"I don't have a copy of George's code," Gainey said. "I think the point is it's your teammates you're here for. It isn't your code, it's our code."

Then he had better train his ass off because as far as I am concerned, he could no longer play in this league.

what erks me most is how they always say they want to" try to prove" after they leave???

whats the problem with "trying " while here???

should be a new rule man, if 2 team release you, your banned for the NHL

or have to play for leauge 50% of the leauge min for next 4 years.

sometime ya wonder if these guys do it on purpose just to get out .

Of course, couldn't do that while playing here. Do these guys think it's just enough wear the jersey, they don't have to earn anything? It only takes one shift as a fighter to do his job and send a message, not ten or fifteen. Baby.

Exactly. He cannot skate at all and whenever he tries to hit, he is always getting wind. He is usueless.

As for the toughness argument, reason to keep BGL on the roster, I do not buy it. What I like is a player who can play the game, pitch in about 10 goals a season, and is just fierce on the ice. As much as I hate to say this, a player like Lucic without the antics would be what we need. No more liabilities or one trick ponies on the roster. Think versatility.

When the Canadiens asked me to participate in fund raising events, I was always up for it. I was not out there partying all the times and this season, I was very prudent when I addressed the media. I respect his decision but I really have no idea what he meant by 'distraction to the team'…"

"… I loved playing in Montreal in front of passionate fans and media. Anyone who complains about the so called media/fan pressure should go play a year in Phoenix in front of a half empty arena and one reporter. Plus… who are we hockey players to complain when you factor in all the real problems in today's world…"

"… what I can say to young Québécois players who would have the opportunity to play in Montreal? Do it! This town cares about hockey and it is great. You must understand that a lot of people out there are trying to get high rating so you must not take the negative stuff personally. What matters is the support I always received from the fans..."

As I mentioned earlier, Laraque on ice performance sure was subpar so, in a way, good riddance.

However, before this team turns into the "Boy scouts" of Montreal (Latendresse, Chipchura, Laraque: out), I hope Gainey intends to address the lack of size/grits upfront.

And no, O'Byrne on 4th is not the solution!
this needed to be quoted because of course no one actually read a positive thing.

Gainey sent him a fax, no doubt!

I still think we need an enforcer, given that our tiny team can't protect themselves - guys like Pouliot should'nt have to fight. We need to find a guy that can play well devensively, hit hard and often and won't hesitate to bring "IT" when that is what is needed. Would be nice to be the team that stirs the dung for a change, too.

I'd also like to bring back Kostopolus as well. Heck, how great would it be to have two gritty lines that can stir it up, back it up and not be liabillities!

Kostopolous - Lapierre - Moen
?? - Metroploit - ??

I'm glad he's gone but I kinda agree with him that it looks classless.
He unfortunately has a NMC which prevents being exiled to the AHL.

How true, what happened with earning your pay and proving you belong while earning that money....really disappointed with BGL...

I said send him to the minors, not waive him. As far as I know you don't need to waive a player to send him down. Tampa pulled that with Boyle to force him to waive his No Trade which would have been "classless."

All Gainey did was cut a player who has done sweet d1ck all for the majority of time he's been here collecting a hefty pay cheque. BGL should be ashamed and send most of his paycheck to the Haiti releif fund. At least those people deserve it.

oh snap. That's awesome that Bob said that. Didn't realize he hadn't spoken to Laraque about the code thing before, you'd think he might have changed his attitude. There was a whole article in the NY time/post, one of them about BGL and what a gentle giant he was. I think that must have p'd Bob off that Georges was talking again about how he doens't want to hurt someone. Comments by Bob totally warranted.

Classless? Uh...you not sticking up for your midget teammates. That is classless.

+1

also, what does he mean by "play"? All you are supposed to do is fight. Which you didn't. If you go and fight somewhere else, well then that's just being an *******.
