The fact that Katz tried hard for him when he signed in Montreal scares me that we will acquire him somehow before the start of next year.

I don't think they've bought him out yet (pretty sure they can't until the summer).

They've pretty much just asked him to stay home until they can buy him out in the summer. Not sure how this is going to play out.

Yes, let's trade for a player who's a decade older, half as useful and twice as expensive.

Makes lots of sense.

Laraque is terrible and wasted his nhl talent. He can now concentrate on being the radio personality he has always wanted to be.

You're pretty much correct, it'll be interesting to see what the NHLPA does. I thought you couldn't really tell a player to stay away unless there is a reason. With all the PR stuff that Laraque does this could end up looking ugly for the Habs.

I agree this could get real messy. Laraque and Martin must have a had frosty relationship, but of course I am just speculating.

You know, thats pretty classless of the Canadiens.

Cutting a guy while he's dealing with some family in Haiti? I know Laraque was the big suck there, but horrible timing.

^What do you mean...it just gives him more time to deal with the stuff that happened "back home".

The rumblings are pretty much the same as they were here when MacT had issues with him.

He's just become a bad player. Focus isn't there any more. He got his final 5 years in there at 1.5M per season (though the buy-out will reduce the final season).

I think his NHL career is over (and has been for about 3 years).

MacIntyre brought a bigger bang for your buck. If they didn't think he was necessary then I doubt they're considering Laraque.

Makes you wonder why Katz thought he would help this team.

I'd take him off their hands for a discounted price on Halak. 3rd + Pouliot or something.

I don't know what the difference would be between Stone and Jaques to be honest. We don't need more players like him. Especially one that goes through the motions as often as he does. We need a guy in the bottom six that can give us around 10 goals hopefull more. The type of player Moreau, Marchant, Grier, Glen X, even Pisani used to be. That's a guy we need to go for. Also a centerman obviously.
