Has the Pens GM contacted Gonchar's agent?
Has Doug Wilson contacted Nabokov & Marleau's agent?

Who cares

why waste your time now????
i mean obvious TO ME with him on the point per game pace it wont be ANY CHEAPER to sign him TODAY.
Call today agent says yes BOB 6 million..Bob say (oh ya right let do 15 years)

The great thing is this one worked out,a player who actually isnt paying like crap (he can TRADE HIM for good value at the deadline )

or wait till offseason(playoff preformance<<that what counts ) and then make a offer.

Why Gainey would already have to call him?

Maybe the right move would be to trade him before the season ends... we are not even in position to make the playoffs...

Trade him for picks/prospects/young players and try to re-sign him next summer could be an idea. Kinda like the blues did with Tkachuk a few years ago when he was traded to Atlanta.

I haven't contacted Videotron to tell them that I renew my contract.
I haven't contacted Bell to tell them that I renew my contract.
I will wait till the last minute to tell my landlord that I do not renew my lease.

what do all of the above have in common?
I'm not one to call all horny, 6 months in advance.

btw, if we had signed Plek in December (we couldn't because of the CBA) we would have had to pay 6.5M or more.
Since then, he's hugely cooled down... I'd say down to 5M.
and if he cools down more, it'll drop more.

morale of the story??

Gainey.

I have a question about Pleks.

So we obviously have Gomez and we all know his salary and relative untradeability. So that kind of locks Gomez in here as our 2nd line center. Especially considering his chemsitry with Pouiliott and Gionta.

So that means Pleks is our default number 1 center. He's obviously having a good year, but he is really a PPG player? I think he's more a 65 point a year, very good second line center. Knowing this, do we want to commit big money to him? I think in order to break out of this funk we're in we just need to bite the bullet and trade some of guys who are good, but not great. He fits that category in my book.

This is what I'm starting to think about as well, it was said best on tsn, do you see him as part of your stanley cup winning team? if the answers yes, then keep him, if no, then its time to part ways.

He is gone at the deadline!

To Los Angeles:

Jaroslav Halak + Tomas Plekanec

To Montreal:

Jonathan Bernier + Colten Teubert + 1st round draft pick in 2010

If Plekanec is made available or is a UFA come July 1st, look for L.A. to come calling first!

Gainey's non-negotiation tactics at it again. Latendresse said he felt under appreciated by his terrible offer, same thing happening again, no surprise. Good chance Plekanec is gone. Hope we can get a good return for him at the deadline.

I think Plekanec is a better player than Gomez hands down.

Sad that we have to keep the overpaid unmotivated player that hasn't been a hab for all of his career in favor of him.

Gainey just doesn't know how to deal with players to make them feel appreciated. Pretty sure Plekanec and Walsh were expecting a call. I wouldn't be surprised if Plekanec slowing down is a result of his disapointment in not even getting a call from Gainey.

Think about it, unless the salary cap goes up, I doubt we have the room to keep him.

If he is, that's pretty sad if you ask me.

Players are human beings. They produce better when motivated appropriately.

We'd all like to think they're robots but that's not the reality of the situation.
