Brashear was a healthy scratch tonight?

Please say he was injured...

I cannot fathom why he wouldn't be dressed against this team.

Brashear was scratched for the last several games (supposedly) because he had a sore hamstring. Don't know about tonight, didn't see the game. But, what's the point even if he was healthy? He hasn't been effective in general and he hasn't been a deterrent in particular for pretty much the whole season. Whatever happened today would have happened even if he was in the lineup.

what do you mean what's the point? You act as if the guy's an invalid.
He can do what he's being paid to do. He can go after a Richards, or a Carter, and Briere. He can do what he did to Betts when he played for the Caps.

I realize that the guy is near done, but don't act like he can't be the goon we
hired him to be anymore. that's just nonsense.

I'm pro-enforcer, but Brash is trash. Would rather have Voros, sadly. We're gonna sign John Scott in the offseason, he's a monster.

Same thing will happen with John Scott, or any player we sign. It's like magic.

What would Brashear have done tonight? Hug Carcillo?

Brashear is no longer intimidating. He is done. Awful decision by Sather to sign him to a 2-year deal.

And I think he is nursing some sort of hamstring injury. He's had a bunch of injuries this year, I know he had a hand injury earlier in the year. Old and run down.

we won 6-2 and 8-2 in the past 2 games...why would you make lineup changes?

When has he actually done that this season? Why would tonight have been any different than the nights he actually dressed and didn't do much of anything.

Brashear is done. As I said originally, what's the point of dressing a player who cannot fill the role he was signed to do.

Because we're playing the flyers???

dressing Brashear (if healthy) instead of Voros shouldn't have matter that much
offensively. Right????

well tonight needs to be the first and last night that this garbage happens.

They need to waive/buyout, etc Brashear and sign LaRoque immedietly.

Perfect timing and it's a no brainer for this team of softies.

You fail terribly here. This thread should be over after Inferno's comment. Get a clue man.

Yes, and those of us who said we missed Colton were constantly told that Brashear was the much more 'complete' hockey player.
Except that wasn't really needed, because we were talking about a dependable 4th liner, and Colton was a known, and Brashear was a gamble that cost more.
Speaking subjectively (the above rant is completely objective, I believe) and with bias, I never liked Brashear at all, not even a bit. I held a grudge against for his hit on Betts, but I had already confirmed my opinion of him. He is a mercenary.

The big PR campaign that brashly claimed that Brashear is a more complete player is a complete fallacy, and NYR is completely the poorer for giving this guy too much money to do what I figured he would do...nothing.

And don't call it hindsight, instead, call it lack of foresight by dumbo Sather. Who the hell would sign Brashear but Sather in some stupid misguided attempt at signing an old worn out warrior and resurrecting...I don't know what.

He has skated like a lame old man all season, never mind his recent injury.

So, we have Sean Avery, who gave a crap tonight. Sean went up against the piece of shiite Carcillo.

Thank you Sean.

this is hindsight coaching, nothing else. id like to see anyone posting before this game started that they wanted Brashear in the lineup.

yeah that'd be nice to have to fall back on. we have no insurance, no protection.

just the nervous hope that henrick wontget run tonight or gaborick wont hurt himself on a goon.

at least we can watch torts bully larry brooks around (not that I disapprove).

I'd love to see Byers up here next time we face Philly.. Not Brashear though. I'd rather see Voros get dropped in an effort to stick up for his teammates, rather than the donald.

I hope Brashear never wears a Rangers jersey again.

Why would you dress Brash against the Flygirls? He wouldn't fight anyway. Even Gabby's tougher than him now....I just wished Voros jumped on Carter, Richardson or Briere. I was actually hoping for head hunting at some point....can't tell how I hate this team right now.

Orr would have sent a message to one of their stars before the game was over you could have bet anything on it but Brashear is a better skater and thats what matters most to Torts and Sather the toughness comes in a distant 2nd...makes me want to vomit when I see that dude in a Leafs uniform

Why would he be dressed? So he could hug Carcillo to death? The only reason I could see is he could cheap shot someone. The man is done. Age caught up with him. Sometimes you miss Orr.

But I'm against having a goon in the lineup anyway. A player needs to be able to do more than fight.

I thought Orr was on his way to becoming a more well rounded hockey player. I know he worked on his skating a lot in the last offseason that we had him. I wouldn't use him every game though.

I'm also against goons in the lineup and I agree that a player has to do more than fight, but sometimes fighting is more than just fighting. Last night, for instance, it would have been good for team pride to see someone in a Rangers jersey laying down some consequence for Flyer actions. Instead I felt the whole team felt somewhat emasculated knowing that the only guy willing to fight back is under 6 feet tall (Avery) while we've got guys the size of Boyle and Staal skating around, shying away from conflict.

As is Carcillo, he's no where near 6 ft. Girardi should have came in with a flying knee to Carcillo's head. I would also love to see tomahawks chops with the stick through Hartnell's & Richard's visors...
