Unfortunately a lot of the remaining teams are locked into very expensive contracts to break and must remain with the CHL. Not sure timing on when some of them expire, but some like the Bloomington Blaze just re-upped.

Someone just has to call time of death on the league and let the healthy teams out. I'm sure the ECHL would love to add some larger market teams like Tulsa, Wichita, Kansas City (suburb) and Dallas (suburbs). Not sure how they are doing financially, but those are some pretty attractive markets and ECHL west needs some new teams...

I would love for us, the Allen Americans, to join the ECHL. More stability and better team names/logos.

The ECHL while it might appear more stable I think a lot gets hidden. I recall that the Komets had a beat writer last summer yacking about franchises for sale every summer in every league in the minors. Theres usually like 10+ and some we never hear about because buyers aren't found. Have had 3 ownership changes this offseason.

GMR, I'm guessing you aren't a Star Trek fan.

That's true, I just wish we were in a league with cooler names and logos. Every logo in the CHL looks like it was made in MS Paint. Though most ECHL teams look like they got theirs from the same design team.

Am I the only one who thinks the Denver Cutthroats logo looks ugly?

I found out this year with our mess going on that generally the ECHL teams logos are owned by the league(as I believe the franchise names come to be too) I know we "tweaked" our logo from our last UHL season when we moved. I'm not sure if there was a motive for this or not.

FTR, the "He's dead, Jim" is a reference from ST2 - Wrath of Khan at the end of the film when Spock dooms himself by exposure to radiation to save the Enterprise from destruction (said by Bones to Kirk).

Actually it's a fairly standard reply from the original series Star Trek (TOS). Bones would check the alien or red shirt (the extra doomed to die in the episode), come back to Kirk and say "He's dead Jim." The Wrath of Khan merely reprised it.

(hockey isn't my only fandom. )

The "D" looks like crap. The fish is ok, but the colors are flat looking. The real problem with the logo is that they had to design it around the name Cutthroats. Ugh.

I thought differently. The D looked OK, but the fish looked ugly. The whole thing kind of looked like it was made in MS Paint.

Couldn't agree with you more.... It isn't going to strike fear in an opponent.
