Great work by Mueller leading to the Korpikoski goal. Loved to see that.

Great first period. We have to stay out of the box though. Caps powerplay is just too good. Playing with fire taking penalties against all those guns.

Bryz & Fiddler are jacked. Mueller also looked like a hockey player on that goal.

Caps announcers are very good...not crappy homers. They're saying lots of good stuff about the Yotes.

Some things to note...

Canadiens assistant GM Pierre Gauthier and Blues VP of Player Personnel Doug Armstrong are in attendance at the game (via David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period).

Coyotes getting killed in the faceoff circle tonight. Capitals winning 72% of the faceoffs (won 13 out of 18 faceoffs)

Lepisto has to shoot on that play...to many guys going to the net waiting for the shot, we would have had a nice rebound w/guys around the crease.

Instead he makes a bad pass behind and it leads to a even strength break...pucks to the net fellas, pucks to the net

Passing in general has been horrendous this period. Our last PP for example.

I'd really like to see Prucha back with Upshall and Lombardi. And Mueller is still terrible at the point.

There's way too much standing around and watching going on by the coyotes. They really need to score on this PP.

It's just skill over will tonight. We have the will, but they have the skill.

We're battling, but you can tell the offense just isn't there. Guys are hesitant to shoot and when they do it's blocked or tipped, passes are either in the feet or 10 feet out of reach. You can't generate any kind of rush with such sloppy play going up ice. The only time we can sustain any type of pressure is when we are on the powerplay, and even that is laughable.

If they want a chance at a point (or 2) tonight they're going to have to break their 1-2-2 shell game and take some chances with defensemen jumping into the play, and rely on Bryz to come up big if needed in the 3rd.
