whitney

how about we try and bring back whitney for a stretch run. he's a sniper and may be available since it seems the canes aren't going anywhere. btw, repik should be called up and given playing time. the kid can score!!!!!

I would love to see the Wizard back with the Cats for the stretch run, but chances are someone is going to outbid us for his rental services. If we do make a move like this though, I hope it's sooner rather than later b/c the next 10 games without Horton are important points before the Olympic break. A Whitney-Weiss-Frolik line would look nice...

If we ever were able to lure Whitney back, I think I'd get really into this team again. I guess little things matter.

I talked about this on one of the stickied threads. I'm not a fan of Whitney's at all, but I'd really like to see him back on the team.

Also, the horrendous Garrioch claims we're interested in Kotalik...hope not. (It Garrioch, so I'm going to go ahead and believe that we're not)

Whitney would be awesome. He'd cost a 2nd most likely. Ideally i'd like to see Tarnasky + 3rd for Whitney

How about Kreps, Plante, and a 4th?

Carolina will be looking to improve, it'll likely take a higher pick at least. Nasty and Kreps likely won't get it done, but it won't take a ton, either.

Kreps isn't a bad player... Neither is Plante...

How about Kreps and 3rd

We don't have a 3rd this year.

Whitney would be a good addition to this team. If Carolina insists on a 2nd round pick though, I hope we could hold onto this year's 2nd and give them a 2011 2nd instead.

I don't know if he's bad...but he's certainly not good

What does he bring to a team?

There's tons of players like him around the league. He's nothing special

$$$$$

Any other team would've permanently sent off Kreps to Rochester by now and have him stapled to the bench there until he figures out how to find the back of the net.

Kreps: 46 games played; 1 goal
Repik: 9 games played; 2 goals

I don't care how cheap we are; enough is enough. Bring Repik up permanently and put Kreps where he belongs, in the AHL.

People need to keep in perspective there are more buyers than sellers right now due to the glut in the east. There are going to be several teams interested in Whitney and the Panthers won't get into a bidding war costing them picks or good prospects for a rental. As much as I'd like to "bring back Whitney," chances are we're not going to make a move on that level.

there may be a bidding war for whitney, but i believe he goes for max a 2nd. everybody is up against cap space and i don't believe teams are willing to jeopardize too much for a rental. as far as pitt. i don't see them giving up too much for whitney. maybe a 3rd. they don't lack scoring and don't have much room for whitney.
as far as repik, he needs to be given a legitimate shot. he is a scorer and has been relegated to the 4th line here. even so he has scored. is he that bad defensively?

While i agree for the most part, i just wanna play devil's advocate here...

Why hasn't Repik been called up full time when we have Kreps who looks like an AHLer for sure? Well, for one, Kreps can play a good defensive game. He's a guy PDB has no issue with putting out on the PK. His offensive game, is obviously horrendous this year, but if you put Repik out there, he'll put in some goals, but he'll make some mistakes defensively that will probably negate any offensive punch he might bring. Plus, we'd need to put a new forward out on the PK.

That being said, i really like Repik and can't wait for him to get up here. And i'd love to see kreps flourish offensively. He's got to use his body a bit more and work on his skating.

Kreps going down and Repik going up wouldn't be something i'd complain about, at all.\

EDIT: I'd also love to have Whitney here. He set up Sutter with a friggin' amazing goal the other night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAGEjNtZAKU

Why would Carolina want Tarnasky?
