Vokoun Sucks!

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Seriously, where would we be without him? This is the best I've seen him play in the two years I've been with the Panthers. Would you agree?

Yup, he's been great. Hopefully he can keep this pace up.

Vokoun usually has his streaks of absolutely stellar play each season, but yes I'd agree he's been a goaltending god as of late, stealing games for us when we're getting completely outplayed. Without him, for sure we'd be competing with Carolina for Hall.

Picking up Vokoun was a very good move, after the horrible decision to trade Luongo was made.

He's been amazing lately. I still want to trade him, he isn't worth the money given that he is prone to cold stretches and soft goals.

The decision to trade Luongo was inevitable, he really didn't leave the Panthers with a whole lot of choices. The trade itself was bad, but Luongo wasn't going to be a Panther anymore.

I just hope he continues this kind of play all year and through the Olympics so his value is as high as possible come draft time :-D

I'd love to be able to get a Giroux, JVR type for him... Be able to have Markstrom come up and use the extra money on a FA.

But I would not in the least be upset keeping him, just saying...

As much as I love Vokoun, we should look to trade him now to a team like Philly who is an elite goalie away from SC contention. He's stealing games from us and ruining our chance at a top 3 pick.

He must be doing good if we haven't heard anything from GP about why we should have kept Anderson.

He's 2nd in the league in save percentage and 2nd in the league in shutouts. To highlight his occasional cold streaks or soft goals over his overall stellar play is a disservice to both Vokoun and this team.

At this point in time his level of play is worthy of a Vezina nod.

Disagree. I'm cool with trading him provided we get a good return, but this statement is pretty ridiculous to me.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they did try to trade Vokoun in the off-season and keep Andy, but T-Vo's got a NTC and he very well could have just said no. we'll likely never know.

he's playing great but i'd still trade him. his great play isn't getting us to the playoffs, it's only making us suck less.

defense needs help, with this mindset we should move everyone else for a top pick...yeah, makes sense. I mean, just a few games ago the Panthers were 10th in the NHL in offense. EVERYONE GONE!!!

Again, I'd move him, but not because he's "making us suck less," and so we can get a top pick. Top pick won't happen, we're not nearly as bad as the teams that will get it.

Further, not every hyped up prospect makes the NHL, we know that.

The 2010 Edition Of GP says ALL HAIL TOMAS VOKOUN !!!!!!

And he has me wondering if it would be smarter to sign him to an extension and trade Markstrom? Markstrom would be much easier to trade. Hmmm...?

Markstrom would be more likely to yield a Giroux or JVR from Philly than Vokoun because of their Cap Situation which is why, perhaps, it may be smarter to sign Vokoun to an extension and trade Markstrom. Still would have Clem and Salak as back-ups to TiVo.

I don't like the idea to start the next season with Markstrom as the starter and Clemmensen as the backup. As good as Markstrom is, how can we be 100% sure that he's going to be ready? And with Clemmensen as a backup...it's really risky IMO

Vokoun is almost 34 years old. In a few years, we'd have the same problem and need another, younger #1 goalie. Clem is certainly not a starter, and Salak may or may not become a #1 goalie in the NHL. Markstrom can be a great #1 goalie for years to come.

The ONLY way I'd even think of dealing Markstrom right now would be if a star player was coming to Florida.

My feeling on keeping Vokoun and trading Markstrom boils down to this. Better a bird in hand than two in the bush. We know what Vokoun is. We can only hope what Markstrom would become. Besides, like I said, Markstrom is the easier to trade asset because of Vokoun's contract.

Goalies can easily play until 40. They're unlike other positions. I'll worry about Vokoun's successor a half-dozen years from now.

PS-Brodeur will turn 38 during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Ho...You were serious?

I'm not saying we should start the next season with Markstrom as our starter.

But trading Markstrom and re-sign Vokoun? Please...

Markstrom wouldn't be easy to trade. Our demands for trading a potential star #1 goalie would be higher than any team would be willing to pay.

And Markstrom on an ELC saves this team a lot of money that can be used in other areas. I thought it was best not to spend much money on goalies?

But it's absolutely fine to talk about trading a top-5 (arguably 3 sometimes) goalie right now in his prime? Please, I'll be happy if Markstrom turns out as good as Vokoun. Factor in that he likely won't be the leader in the locker room that Vokoun is RIGHT NOW and there's a case to be made that Vokoun's return would be undervalued vs Markstrom's potentially inflated trade value.

Just a suggestion, no one expects it to happen, but it's a good point.
