There's no way they'd be able to get both, and it would take ALOT.

Way too much. I can't see the Pens paying whatever the kings would be after if those two were on the table with their discount contracts.

Change it to Frolov and Johnson. Would the Kings take Tangradi, the Pens 1st rounder this year and Max Talbot? Maybe toss in a 3rd round pick, but I think that's plenty fair.

Those two players would be ideal, but the price starts with Staal and rises, and I'm not sure what the Pens would include to entice LA sufficiently. Crosby and Malkin and Fleury obviously off limits.

Staal plus Letang, maybe. Not sure if the Kings would go for that.

Staal and Letang maybe?

Sounds close anyways. Maybe a bit more from pittsburgh like a mid round pick.

Pretty fair value, but doesn't meet team needs. A roster top 6 forward and dman to replace them. The kings don't want to be rebuilding forever.

I mean, the 20something year old captain and arguably the defenseman of the future? Those two are pretty untouchable for the Kings.

Don't forget Doughty. The kings having Doughty means that Johnson isn't quite -as- untouchable. Though it would have to be overpayment.

Like Stall, Letang + as somebody said.

Not interested in overpaying for these 2. Brown is better than Staal, but Staal's numbers are just as good as Brown's this year and he's younger. I'd also keep Letang over JJ everyday of the week, but that's just me.

Anyway, Brown will always take an overpayment to pry away since he's the captain etc. and we won't overpay like that for him.

JJ could be expendable down the road with so many great D-Man prospects on the way in the LA organization and I'd offer a fair return for him, but JJ isn't the type of player I'd overpay for right now. You overpay for a sure thing and I still have too many questions about JJ. Not so much about his talent level, but whether or not he'll ever learn how to get the most out of it in the NHL.

But let me guess, Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury are untouchable

Why would the Kings trade two vital parts of their team when they sit 6th in the West?

Because they are spoiled by the league now for a couple of years......
Now they dream they can do whatever they want and everyone agrees like the referees in a pens game.

Pens get Scuderi and half his salary! the other haklf the Kings get to pay, and the NHL agrees to it and everyone screams conspiricy.

No need for either given the price tag....

Brown's captaincy makes him untouchable except for a huge overpayment, which doesn't fit Shero's style....we don't need a winger THAT bad

Double J is nice, but again...why overpay? Lombardi is doing his best to run him out of town so he may be able to be had at a surprising price...In the past, a Letang for JJ trade would've seemed logical...but now, I would call LA's bluff and low-ball them because the more Lombardi and JJ clash in the press, the more his trade value plummets.

So?? Haven't the Penguins been looking for a winger to flank Crosby since Sid came into the league? Hossa was great for about 40 games (playoffs inc.)...I'm certainly not expecting Malkin to move, but Staal and Letang may be fair. Although the Kings seem pretty loaded at Center already, so Staal's stock is pretty insignificant to LA.

That said, as a Flyers fan...I'm rooting for more horrible trade offers so this never happens I loathe the day Crosby gets a good winger.

Staal is staying a Penguin untill we can't afford him anymore. It's too bad that will be when he's entering his prime and being a beast on a consistent basis. Pens are not getting any elite winger aslong as we are rolling 3 good C's down the middle. Pens will rely on Drafting and UFA for the winger spot untill Staal is gone.

I'd consider trading anybody except Malkin, Crosby & Fleury if the right deal is offered. However, I'm not a fan of overpaying to get Crosby a winger. If we can get him one at a fair price then I'm all for it. The right winger offered up for Letang or Staal? I'd at least consider it. I just don't like sacrificing both Staal & Letang (2 of our better young players) just to upgrade 1 winger spot. Gaining one 30 goal winger and losing a 20 goal, 50 point, shutdown center and a top 4 D-Man just isn't worth it, imo.

Malkin or bust and even then, LA would need to trade for a defenseman to replace Johnson.
