Talk about having the IQ of a fish.....

Lowe lets the inexpensive Hejda & Glencross walk away for nothing.... He signs players to contracts that they will never be able to exceed.

Lowe max's out the salary cap then hands the reins over to Tambellini.... Then Tambellini gets the blame.........

Exactly. Not sure of the point of that guys article. Yes Lowe did put together some pretty good teams with the resources he had. But he has royally ****ed this team now and for the foreseeable future. Tamby hasn't made things better with the Khabby signing but Lowe has a long list of dirty laundry.

Trying to say that Lowe is a great GM for what he did in the past is like trying to say the Oilers are a great team they have won 5 stanley cups. Guess JW is living in the past like many fans do.

Totally, I love how he mentioned that he only had 3 TV channels growing up. Makes me think that this team really could use a couple of Swedes to help Lander and MPS in a year or two.

I only had 3 channels growing up too, so I feel even closer to Lubo. Before it was just our love for cookies that we seemed to have in common. Ah, I think that I will have to try harder to get a puck from Lubo when I wear his jersey in Phoenix and Anaheim. Still rolling with my Smytty jersey in LA.

How did you only have three channels? I grew up in the country and had limited Tv but I still got like 5 channels:

3 - CTV
5 - CBC
9 - Access
11 - CBC French
13 - Global
51 - A-Channel

Would you look at that I had 6.

Well I grew up dirt poor. On the farm we lived on east of Cold Lake for a while we had no indoor plumbing but we did have electricity for a few years. Then we got to move into my grandparents farm house when they moved. We had an antenna on the roof and if it was turned one way we got CBC, ITV and the French channel. If we turned it another way we lost ITV, but gained the CFRN equivilent. Look at me now its funny thinking how far away from that situation I am now.

That article was pure garbage. Both would need to clear waivers to be sent to the AHL. But why would the Oilers send two promising young player to the AHL. The guy that wrote the article is a moron.

I wouldn't start writing an article like this without checking to see if they were waiver eligible first.

I guess the author has different priorities.

If no one had posted that I was going to put it in the "so stupid it's funny" thread.

This would be why I don't subscribe to THN anymore. Not because they write negative things about the Oilers, but because their writers are so far out of touch with reality that their INTERNET COMMENTERS are clearly much more educated and rational, as demonstrated nicely on this story.

Where have I heard that exact same phrasing before? Maybe perhaps about another member in the Oilers org who got turfed a little while later? Hmm. Nope, not ringing a bell.

Matheson suggests that Matt Niskanenan might be available from the Stars. IMO if you can trade Souray for Niskanenan and a prospect, you jump all over that. Niskanenan is 23 with 3 years NHL experience. He's the perfect type of player to grab from a team imo, NHL experienced but still at that age where they're a bit frustrating. Niskanenan will develop into a solid NHL defenseman for many years to come.

I'm not what I'd consider old (32) even though I realize I'm not really young either, but when I was young Access and A-Channel weren't available. Though I speak French I didn't watch it often so most who grew up in the 80s really only considered it 3 channels.

I used to live in Edmonton and before getting cable, we only had 4 channels as well.

3 - CTV
5 - CBC
8 - CITV
11 - CBC French

That was it. We were using the good old rabbit ears. Then our TV wasn't clear and we decided to get cable. Have had cable ever since. There wasn't that many cable stations back then as there is now.

Whatever happened to CITV. Did they change names. I remember that channel. When I lived in Edmonton, there was no Access or A-Channel either. CITV was an independent channel.
