Likely Dealt players at Deadline (The Deadline / Proposal Thread)

TSN came out with a list of the top-10 players who will most likely be moved at the deadline.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=307761

Mueller is #3 on that list. Anyone still think that a deal is still possible for a player like Mueller who could be part of the solution now and in the future?

I am not enamored with him. He's been getting worse and worse. Reminds me of Prucha who peaked early on and then just regressed. He's a very different style player, but I don't think we should pay a lot for a reclamation project. Maybe if it's Higgins for Mueller since Hig will be gone anyway at the end of the year.

Mueller has a lot of potential; much more than Sjostrom and Lisin... so asking price would be high.

Then again, Prucha is working out well for PHX, so he might lower the price for Uncle Glenny.

I would think that if Phoenix continues to win games they could be more serious in their desire to move Mueller to gain some support for the PO run.

Last nights game was a huge boost for that team. Scoring 2 goals in the lact 2 minutes to tie the Wings and then getting the winner in OT can do wonders for this team.

I know it's hard for them to add salary, but with the added revenue from a playoff round (or two, my fingers are crossed for them) they may be able ot justify the additional salary.

The problem is then who do we give up?

I would look to do something like this.

Higgins and Prospal for Mueller and a pick (2nd rounder to high?)

I would look at something like Prospal + Higgins + 2nd tier prospect(Sauer, Byers, Dupont, Williams). Not sure that gets it done but I would have interest if he is available.

Unlike a certain New York team, the Coyotes have great chemistry. They also are dealing from strength -- they have assets (lots of young defensemen + Calgary's 1st this year & Philadelphia's 2nd next year) cap space (they are barely above the cap floor) and only two key UFAs (Lombardi & Michalek) to sign for next year. Mueller is available but the return would have to include a player who can outscore him this year and fit comfortably into the team plus another asset. Higgins might work here. If the Rangers decided to burn the furniture, Prospal would also fit that description. Mueller has been playing better lately and he still has a lot of upside but he's never been the same player since his concussion and I'm not certain he will fufill all of that promise. He was a perimieter player to start and he still looks scared of contact.

mueller cant skate. dude is slow. good stick skills when he chooses to show up but he doesnt like to get hit. hes not worth alot.

maloney will want alot for him im sure and then well have a younger/slower version of christopher higgins.

as for that article. too funny.

we cant even get a name on that list. to not have higgy or rozy there is a joke. i mean they just suk too much and no one would want them.

god help this team.

Boy TSN really went out on a line with this one.

Kovalchuk and players from the worst teams in the league.

Theres a few players on that list that I can see Sather being convinced will help us, and I pray to God he stays away.

Rangers should be sellers of Prospal, Higgins, and Girardi no matter where they are in the standings.

there are two questions...one, why would the 'Yotes want to get rid of them, and if that's the direction they go, then why would someone want to acquire him? Either he has great potential and can return to form a couple seasons ago, or he's a complete bust. Should Sather take on that gamble, or is there something better out there if he's willing to trade Prospal, who's legitimate help for a team looking for a playoff run?

Why is everyone so against Prospal and wanting him out of here?

I've enjoyed his time here, and absolutely love his enthusiasm. He's one of only a few who seem to have it.

I expect an Antropov-like deal and could see any of Stajan, Ponikarovski, Tanguay or even Demitra joining this team at the deadline. Whoopee!

Because he serves next to no purpose for the future.

We can get a nice asset or two for him now.

The guy is 34 years old and having a good season. No way he re-signs for 1.1 million. The Rangers are in no position to give him a raise.

Dont get me wrong, Im a fan of him too, but we might as well get something for him while we can.

I don't think it's a matter of people not liking him and wanting him out. But on a team going nowhere fast, he is one of the few Rangers that has any sort of value and they should move him while that is the case.

He's proven he's productive every other season. This is one of the good seasons. Sell high!

Does some type of Prospal-for-Mueller deal seem possible from the Phoenix end?

I dont know if im ready to trade Prospal. He is our 2nd Point leader, we need his offense and has chemistry with Gaborik. Lets just say we get offered a mid 2nd rd pick and a prospect do you do that deal?

The only thing Prospal is going to do is hurt our draft position.

10 games before the deadline, those will make or break which stance Sather decides to go.

And by god i hope they lose every last one of them. Enough is enough.

Yes and you then re-sign him (assuming it's a reasonable contract) during the off-season.

Problem is that is he continues to play this well, he's not going to sign a reasonable contract.

No multi year deals for players over 35 unless they are absolute Stars.

A 1 year deal for 3 million is all I am prepared to extend.

He's a nice guy, a nice player, but not part of the overall solution/direction we need to be going in.

I've jumped to the "don't trade for Mueller" camp. I've seen about 10 of their games this season, most of them fairly recent. He looks lost out there, positionally. We don't need to waste assets on a project that needs that much work.

We're probably going to get Ponikarovsky or Demitra or Jokinen. Some overrated European forward, most likely. Probably a tough guy defenseman, too. Some bottom-pairing scrub. Another first round exit, another waste of a draft pick or two.

My trade proposals

Here's what I would like to happen:

1) Girardi, Kotalik and Valentenko for a late first rounder.

2) Rosie, Prospal and Kundratek for a late first rounder.

3) Higgins, Brasheer and Doyle for a second rounder.
