MPS/Eberle/Cowen/Karlsson

I'm not even going to argue out of who's better, etc. they are all good.

The only thing I really disagree with is the post by a certain member

He said he'd take either MPS or Eberle over Cowen and Karlsson

Do you agree with him?

Karlsson is an NHL player right now, and is showing he certainly belongs.

Cowen has a horrible WJC, but his knee is still healing, and he's still growing. Look at Myers in last years WJC.

Fair enough, I like the respect given to Karlsson

It's way too early to tell. Check back in 5 years and you'll have a clearer picture. Right now, any of the 4 could end up being the best of the bunch or the worst.

As far as I am concerned.....

Erik Karlsson

Jordan Eberle

1AMagnus Svensson Paajarvi
1B Jared Cowen

Eberle is going to be a stud but Karlsson has been amazing for us, already a top 4 puckmover as an undersized 19 year old still getting used to the N.A game

MSP and Cowen's WJC's were completely opposite but by reports Cowen has been awsome for Spokane, you could go either way

The homer saying he'd take Eberle OR MSP over Karlsson and Cowen is insane

I would take Eberle and MPS over both defenders. JMO

I have no idea. These debates rarely go anywhere. Look at all the debates there are with guys that have played a couple years in the NHL. Need to actually see all these guys play some NHL games first. Right now neither team is complaining about their picks.

My gut says that 5 years down the road, it will be:

1. Karlsson
2. Eberle
3. Cowen
4. MSP

Karlsson is clearly the best at this moment in time as he is the only NHL player. The others are all potential.

In five years time, I would hope that the order goes Eberle, MPS, Karlsson, & Cowen, but it is way too early to tell.

It is a close one as far as hypothetical's go, but in my mind ;

Karlsson, Eberle, and at this point Cowen and MPS are basically interchangeable's.

I'd take MPS over all of them. I just think he has all the tools to be an elite forward. Cowen would be at the bottom of my list.

Same, MPS is gonna be awesome. He'll end up being better than Eberle atleast.

Right now its Karlsson/Eberle/Cowen/MPS with Cowen and MPS being interchangeable like someone else said.

In 5 years I expect it to be MPS/Karlsson/Cowen/Eberle if they all reach their potential.

I agree, Eberle doesn't pass MPS in my books just because of another great WJC. Magnus has already got the speed + size to make the big show, imo he's a sure-fire NHL'er even if he ends up being a 3rd liner. But I think his potential ceiling is higher than any of these players.

On a kind of related topic, does anyone remember that thread in the prospects board last summer that compared Eberle/MPS vs. Hodgson/Schroeder? The Canucks duo won handily in the eyes of the HF majority - I wonder if sentiments are still the same?

MPS-Karlsson-Eberle-Cowen for me... and I'm pretty surprised to see I'm the first one that has that order.

MPS is a full year younger than Karlsson and at least in my opinion, is an NHL caliber player right now or at least very close. Maybe he's not better than Karlsson right now but that one year age gap is huge at that level.

I'd take MPS/Eberle over Karlsson/Cowen as well. Normally I'd give an edge because Karlsson has played in the NHL, but that doesn't mean much when MPS is a year younger and multiple scouts/hockey people have said MPS is NHL ready already.

And not a huge fan of Cowen from what I've seen, Eberle has done more in the dub and in the world juniors.

I would easily take the two Oilers over the two Sens.

Cowen looked awful at the WJC, slow and awkward. I didn't realize he was coming off an injury but I'm not sure that's a good enough excuse to look as lost as he did.

The other 3 are great prospects, could go either way.

especially because one player was dominant at the WJHC and the other was benched in favor of a forward to play better defense, because Cowen whos MO is shutdown D was brutal in the tourney.

Depends are we going by potential or how good they are right now?

Potential would be MPS, Cowen, Karlsson, Eberle

Better Players right now would be Karlsson, MPS, Eberle, Cowen

And no I wouldn't trade our two prospects for Ottawa's, hell I wouldn't trade just MPS for both.

I hate comparing D men to forwards...

but since thats what the chatter is all about,

MPS>Karlsson>Eberle>Cowen IMO

Eberle though is one of those players though who seems to just FIND a way to be great even when his flaws say he shouldnt be... so Eberle is my darkhorse to shock the league.

Cheers all XD

I like Karlsson, but I wouldn't trade Eberle or MPS for him. He's a bit undersized, but I think he's a smart enough player and good enough positionally to overcome that and become a very good defenseman (much like I'm hoping for Chorney). Don't really have much to say about Cowen. We have Petry; I'm happy with our prospect pool--especially after what should be a good upcoming draft for us.

OTT and EDM aren't good trading partners; I think this has been made obvious time and time again. Omark might be available in the right trade, and I think he's a great talent, if you're looking for a potential top 6 winger with a lot of skill; but he won't bring back a Karlsson or Cowen, obviously.
