I would attempt to move Mara, Sutton, Marchant, Voros, and some prospects. IMO this is the time to do something big. Really big.
We can afford to move a young D prospect like Gardiner or Mitera.

Maybe a package like
Sutton
Gardiner
2011 2nd rounder
for
....
We also need to rebuild a shutdown line if we have Caryle back next season. With Teemu gone we'd have 2 scoring lines and a shut down and the Parros line.

Then the first question for the shutdown line is, is Chipchura good enough or do we need another center? Probably not so....?

How about a centerman that can win a face-off. Good grief, I think Koivu is our only center that is above 50% (and barely so).

i really don't think that chipchura was given a fair chance this year to prove that he is a 3rd line center. RC doesn't let anyone play together long enough to gel and become use to playing and reading each others plays. Latley the last 2-3 games I found that Chipchura is showing that he has skills he is very strong on the puck and wins a lot of board battles but it will be soon again RC will have him a healthy scratch won't be surprise if its not Tueday. I like to see Chip center Lupul and MacMillan for a game Chip can set up plays he is very good at passing and reading plays. If he gets put on waviers he definitley will be pick up.

Handzus would be a good signing. Very strong defensively and isn't a black hole offensively.

I'd love to see him on our team. Him and replace sutton with a better defenseman and Id say we could compete big time.

I agree and that person to me is Eric Belanger. We REALLY missed out on him this past offseason and I hope we don't make that mistake again. Personally I would do this is I was in charge...
-Fire Carlyle
-Fire Murray
-Look for a top 3 Dman via free agency or via trade. Some of that list I would be interseted in is Brewer, Kaberle,Mccabe, Bieska,Pitkanen, Enrhoff,Salo or White. We sign one of these guys to play with Fowler.
-Look at Kariya and see if he could come back and if so try and convince Teemu to take a paycut and Kariya for $1 million and sign both at a max of $4million for both.

If Kariya and Teemu don't come back then I do this...
-With the new coach I look for someone who can handle a 3 scoring line system.
-Sign Frolov
-Sign Belanger
-Sign someone to play with Blake on the 3rd line. On my list would be Zherdev,Upshall,Moulson,Hedjuk,Samsonov,Knuble or Fleischmann.
-Let Marchant, Voros, Mara and Lilja go.
-Trade Sutton for anything
lines would be...
Frolov-Getz-Perry
Ryan-Saku-Lupul
Blake-(FA Center)-(FA winger) or Beleskey/Bonino
Chipchura-Belanger-Parros

Lubo-Lydman
Fowler-(FA)
Sbisa-(FA)

I think the best time to make a deal is now. In the next 7 games at home I think it is our time to jump up in the standings because if we get less then 9-10 points on this home stand I don't see us being able to make up the points with already being up playing 5 or more games on nearly every team.

I doubt any team would spend $3 mil on Frolov given his horrible play this year. Especially not the Ducks who aren't a team that usually gambles a lot with salaries. However, I do believe he could bounce back playing with Getzlaf and Perry, so for cheaper I could be ok with it.

Belanger is worth more than $0.8 mil, he signed with Phoenix cheap because they had a spot open and he would get a major role on their squad. He could very well get a $2 mil contract this summer.

Only way Ehrhoff signs that cheap is with a contender. And this team isn't going to the cap ceiling, at least they haven't been for the last couple of years.

I would sign Frolov for $2 to $2.5 million in a heartbeat.
I agree about Belanger to an extent. I don't think there was as big of a market for him as he thought and waited around and it didn't pay off.
I agree with you on Enrhoff. But with a pretty big amount of top 4 Dman available it should lower the price of most of the players so I think the Ducks can get a good top 4 Dman for under $4 million.

Why would you waste 3mil on that empty meat bag Frolov? the guy wasn't worth jack when he played with Anze, and he can't do jack now with Gaborik, despite Torts best attempts at line juggling.

Yeah but Kopitar and Gaborik aren't that compatible with the style of play that Frolov plays. Thats like putting Getz and Perry with Teemu. They don't really go all that well together even though they are all great players. Frolov likes to cycle the puck and have puck position just like Getz and Perry.

Signing Goc to a 2 or 3 year 2 mil deal would do this team a world of help.

some other things we can do is sign Frolov like you guys said and buyout blake. This would allow Beleskey to play a 3rd line role where he can flourish.

Or trade Sutton for pick/prospects and sigh Ehrhoff/Pit.

people putting 4 or 5 UFA in next years lineup are crazy. We have never been big FA hitters and no big name UFA will take paycuts to come here. a 3rd line center and a top 4 defensemen that can move the puck are the only things we should be going for.

defer's lineup looks more realistic than justheducks' just by looking at the cap space.

Buy out Blake and perhaps trade Sutton at the deadline or in the summer and we could go after Ehrhoff or Pitkanen. Which, combined with the roster we have should make us a serious playoff contender imo.

Definitely don't want the name Frolov to mentioned around this team. Let him go to the KHL.

I want to see where this team is about a week or so from the deadline.

Trading Sutton at the deadline = no FA signings in Anaheim for a few years.

EDIT: Also what's the caphit of buying out Blake, would be 2-3m or something wouldn't it?

We would still have his full cap hit but it would save us 1.5 mil in cash I believe.

Add that to the 2 mil from sutton and we r halfway to a top 4 defenseman.

So his cap hit is still with us for the season? Meh if we have people that can step up so it's worth buying out Blake then do it. Otherwise might as well leave Blake in the line up. I like the hussle and work ethic he brings tbh.

I'd trade Sutton at the Draft if we could get something going. But I'll be happy with a signing of Goc in the FA and trading for a Dman tbh.

ya the only reason to buy him out is if we r short on cash and his 1.5 mil is holding us back from 1 of those 2 defensemen. thats why i didnt bother buying him out on that lineup.

3.5M is what we are paying Lydman. 7M is a #1, and they won't be doing that with all the prospects coming up.

I wasnt saying we spend 7 mil on a defensemen

I was rounding. I already said we should be going for Ehrhoff/Pit who will be getting about 5.5.
