Its a sign of how good they really are. As much as some want to portray them as pretenders, this tells the real story. When their game came together at new years they just stopped losing at all.

Since then they have lost just one goal games in regulation(2) or shootout/OT.

Of the 13 regulation losses...they have only lost 6 of them by more than 1 goal....all others were 1 goal losses (along with the 9 OTL either by goal or shootout)

Sat, Nov 14 New Jersey Devils @ New Jersey (13-4-0) L 2 - 5
Wed, Dec 9 Buffalo Sabres @ Buffalo (16-9-2) L 0 - 3
Sat, Dec 12 Toronto Maple Leafs @ Toronto (10-14-7) L 3 - 6
Mon, Dec 28 Carolina Hurricanes vs Carolina (9-22-7) L 3 - 6
Wed, Dec 30 San Jose Sharks @ San Jose (24-8-7) L 2 - 5
Tue, Jan 12 Tampa Bay Lightning @ Tampa Bay (17-17-10) L 4 - 7

They've truly only been rolled on 6 times...out of 66 games. That's rather absurd when you think about it.

In comparison...San Jose has 10 regulation losses of 2 or more goals.
half of those games were one goal games or tied in the third period.

Belanger just said that he and Knuble will be scratched for the next game. He also said that Owen Nolan told him he was jealous for Eric's chance.

Not sure if this has been posted, but:

Quote:
Three teams were pursuing Mike Modano at the trade deadline, but Modano said he did not want to waive his no-trade clause and leave the only team he has been a part of.

"We talked about this a couple of months ago, and we agreed at the time that if there were teams interested, I would bring the information to Mike,'' Nieuwendyk said. "I did that, and he decided he wanted to stay.'' Modano said it would have felt strange to leave the team.

"Honestly, I just couldn't do it,'' he said. "We were in pretty good shape in the playoff race, and there's no guarantee with a new team. I've been with this team my whole life and I want to stay with this team.'' Modano, 39, will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, but he said he still has not decided if this will be his last season.

"That's something for Joe and I to talk about in the summer,'' he said.

Eh, fair enough. Glad BB for the most part isn't pulling to many strings about sitting people.

I'm sure Bruce appreciated Belanger saying what they discussed in the meeting. I wanted Laich and Knuble to be the 2 HSs for Tampa, but just Knuble is fine as well.

I'm not sure Bruce will sit out Ovi for a game, more likely he will just limit his minutes and allow him to continue to miss practices. That is where he gains his rest.

I think he'd give him the option to take some games off...and Ovie would respectfully decline. Dude loves playing.

Personally...if and when the the conference is clinched....I start resting those guys every other or every third game. Handcuff them to the locker coat hanger before the game. No question. **** that individual ****. Make sure the crew is playing well as a whole...and sit guys here and there so they are good to go when it matters.

Now will it happen...I tend to doubt it.

Well then, mark that down as a game that my girlfriend won't be watching with me. She loves the Baby Dinosaur, and I haven't really figured out why. She won't watch if he isn't playing.

Scratch Ovy, Backy, Semin and Green that game. NBC would have literally nothing to talk about.

They'd have the same thing to talk about as they would if those 4 players did play: Sidney Crosby
