I have a thought of someone who I don't believe anyone has mentioned yet. What about Pat Brisson!
he's one of the bigger player agents around, he's billingual, he must have a load of contacts, has an understanding of the cap and he must be very experienced when it comes to negotiating contracts.

According to Fancois Gagnon, McGuire and other candidates were emailed to find out if the Habs contacted them about being GM. Apparently, McGuire was the only one who answered and said he was not approached for the Habs GM position.

The guy brought it up talking about the need for bilignualism at GM. Basically saying if Holland wants to be GM would you turn him down just because he isn't a francophone?

If Patrick Roy becomes our next GM I will vomit. How anyone would want that traitor back in the fold I just don't understand. If he were an anglophone goalie, he would never have been allowed back in the province. Sigh...still can not understand how someone who damaged our team so severely received a greater standing ovation than Ken Dryden at the Centennial Game this year. Disgusting...

McGuire could be interesting. I just hope that whomever we get, he decides to do something to make this team into an elite team, rather than simply keep them competitive so that we get stuck with another 15 years of 1st round picks in the 15-25 range.

Wow...

Yeah lets not blame the coach who treated him like ****, or the GM who gave him away... Roy is the greatest Hab since Guy Lafleur and the best Hab goalie along with Plante, deal with it.

steve yzerman isn't he looking into a position on a team for a gm, i thought i saw an article on tsn about it.

yzerman could possible be good. though i dislike mcguire when he starts yelling and **** about facts and stats, i like his approach to building a team by bringing in big guys, with speed, and have solid backend not just size but talent. on tsn when he is between the benches during games, he does mention good points about what the habs should get and what they lack he could possibly a good fit and build the team pretty good.

Why? You want Price to be the next Jonathan Roy?

Interesting idea, others have made the move (Gillis, Lacroix, Barnett). Some of these agents would be taking a pay cut to become a gm.

Anyone else hear Pierre McGuire on Benoit Pouliot right after the trade? Said he would have been the first one he would have dealt if he had got the Minnesota job so say goodbye to him if he gets the Habs job.

I just hope they do the due diligence route and hire the best person, whoever that is. No Irving Grundmans this time. Doesn't have to be an ex Hab, just someone capable of overseeing the organization and making consistently good personnel decisions while building a consistently competitive team.

I want Pierre McGuire as the next GM. I was a Gainey supporter, but McGuire would bring a deep breath of fresh air and would make what he thinks is the best to give this team an identity.

ditto...

Roy I would have my doubts but wouldn't be overly angry.
Gauthier is not my favorite, but I can live with him temporarily.
Savard: HELL NO!

McGuire is my #1 pick.

I would seriously consider hiring Jack Bauer...Knows nothing about hockey, but man, could he light up the room!

What kind of identity would that be? Trade half the team for whatever his "flavour of the week" is at that time?

So would everyone on this board, what's your point?
McGuire may know lots about hockey, but as a GM, not so sure. There are many moves suggested on this board that sound like good ideas (countered 10000 to 1 by the horrible moves), but you don't know what goes on behind the scene, and neither does McGuire.

LMAO

You gotta explain that one. How the heck would putting that clown as GM help the Habs draft better? He gets all excited over every pick in the draft on the broadcast.

Not that I'm saying I'd be for or against McGuire... but he's paid to be like that on TV. He wasn't such an insane maniac when he was on CJAD as a member of the Habs' PBP team.
